I know a cracked CRT is a dead CRT, but how would it actually behave? Would you still see neck glow? I've heard you get a crazy light show but is it possible for the CRT to accumulate a partial charge and just sorta do nothing?

Kinda looks like there's a circular crack around the base of my G05-805 right where it connects to the neck socket. Ugh.

if you're aware that the tube neck is cracked... why are you even asking about what will happen?

I mean, if you know it's not going to work, why would you ask this? lol

Cuz I can't tell if what I'm looking at is a crack or not. It goes all the way around the end of the neck and I'm not sure if it's a big ass crack or just the way it looks cuz it's thicker there.

Took a few pics, but they didn't come out very well.

I hope/think he was joking. busting it straight off will assure you a broken tube :D

Plugging in a necked CRT isn't going to kill you. Light show? Maybe, if the HV finds something to arc to.

Give her a 1/2 second on the juice. If you don't see anything out of the ordinary, then try a full second.

If the line that you're looking at goes evenly around the tube neck, chances are it's just a seam at the nipple. Cracks rarely go straight.

Yeah I've had it on for several minutes and it looks pretty normal (except for the no picture thing). Just wanted to know what a broken tube would do so I could eliminate or confirm that as a possibility. I have another thread outlining what I've done so far to rebuilt the monitor.

What game is the CRT in? Is the spot killer LED on (if so equipped)?

What is the brand, make, model?

The experts here (not me) will help you, but you have to give them more than some generalities.
