So I got a monitor back from getting fixed, and I crack the neck on the tube when I was installing it. Ughhhhhhhhhhh. First time this has happened to me and I am really pissed. I knew I should have waited for someone to help me lift it in. It dropped on my knee that I put up to catch it as it slipped from my grip. Just thought I would vent here. Damn that thing hissed for about 20 seconds or so. How many others have done this?

Doh! I TOLD YOU!!!!!

Was it the 19" or the 25"?

yeah I've broke a neck before. It was a beautiful 25" monitor.

I feel ya

I necked a perfect no burn 29" in a Windy Candy, was done testing some Soul Calibur 2 boards, went to rotate it back to vert for some schump action, forgot to remove the metal plate from the back, rotated the monitor and then that hiss, totally gutted, such a stupid mistake as well

It was the 19". It wasn't from someone knockin into it or bumping it. I was putting it in the Track and Field and it slipped while I was trying to mount it and I put my damn knee out to catch it, well you know the rest...... I wish it was the 25", as it has a guard protecting the neck board. I am sooooooooo damn pissed. I had someone coming to look at the game tomorrow. Geeeeeeez

In my case it was a WG6100.

I couldn't get it to fit into my Star Wars cabinet no matter what I tried. So I let it on the floor on a day when the painters came to work and... sniff... It hurts to talk about it. :(

Meh, it happens. What model is it? I have some extra tubes. Send me a pic of the burn and I will try to match it.

The only one I've done was also a 6100. I was balancing it on my leg while knocking on a local tech's door when my arm brushed the neckboard.

Mee too...

Sorry...I've been there. For me it was the famous back door on a Defender. It has a big back panel with the neck just sitting there waiting for a wack.

Yes, I did this to my Galaga when I was installing an ArcadeShop board from the back.

did it a number of years ago on a very nice k4900 swapping monitors around in storage. turned it the wrong way and caught the neck on something and "sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss."

I had one break once when it was just sitting on the floor. It was a 27" med-res - a Japanese model no one has ever heard of. I set it on the floor, and we were standing about 6 feet away talking when all of a sudden we heard SHHHHHhhhhhhh. My wife thought it was funny, but I didn't...

Jj I was leaving Edward's about 4 yrs ago with a nice Wells 7000 as I put it in the truck well you know the rest of the story. As far as the guys busting the 6100s that would seriously make me sick I was so pissed and mine was just a standard raster. Why don't the matashitty monitors ever get broke only the good stuff. JJ if your in a pinch let me know I just picked up a pile of 19" TVs also have a few go7 with pole position burn.

I ALMOST did this on a service call last month. Swapping frames on a 25" near a desk and ran the neck into it. Luckily it just broke the guard and bent the pins, so it was still salvageable.

Only time I broke necks was when I threw the old tube away on that same service call, and once when I picked up a pair of 19" monitors and tried to shove them in my trunk. One made it and one didnt.

While were on the subject though, I've been wondering how bad it is for the enviroment to just throw these away? Seems the only way to recycle them around here is to drive out to Columbia or JC and pay Best Buy $10 each to take them (at least thats the only way I know of).

I busted the neck on my 13" in my Crystal Castles Mini. I was trying to put the back door on it so the neck wouldn't hit the back glass of my truck. But the door fell down and hit the neck.
