I finally had time today to adjust my controls and get in a few practice games.

I broke 1 million. See below.

Thank you! That means a lot coming from the Gorf WR holder!

The controls are critical for this game. I replaced the grommets and cleaned and adjusted the contacts. The little extra responsiveness in the controls makes a huge difference in split second decisions during the game.

A lot of people who come to play in my arcade have never seen or heard of Robotron and find it incredibly difficult.

Its definitely one of the tougher games. You gotta be wide-eyed and foaming at the mouth to play it. Before I broke 1 mil myself(yeah I know pics or it didn't happen) I was stuck at scores between 900K and 990K; it was like the damn game knew you were getting close to the million mark, and came at you full force. Did this happen to you? My best is 1.6 mil, but I tell you, I don't think I could get any higher than that. Too pooped and its just too hard.

Keep practicing, the more you play the better you will get.

1 million is not really that big of a deal on this game. Back in the day there were people who could play this game almost indefinitely.

My favorite arcade game of all time, even though I suck real bad at it.

You definitely need 5 or 6 bowls of Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs to play well.

Snorting PixieStix also helps, I'm told.

337K last night is my best even... guess I need to work on my controls!

I am not sure how good of a score you can get on a MW with regular joysticks. Maybe it's easier. I don't really know.

I hadn't played the dedicated game for 25 years until a few months ago and only now is the machine dialed in where I can focus more on strategy than compensating for control issues.

The game never gets old.

Congradulations, I bet that feels good to break that hurdle of a score.

I think there was some guy named Larry that could get a couple million who is on this forum. Franklin I think his screen name is. I haven't seen him post in a while. He was playing one at Chris Moores party last year and it was moving to fast for me to see what he was doing.

Congrats! I am still on my March to Mediocrity, but I can break 200K semi-regularly now (usually followed by a 68K game :().

Nice Job. I've been over 1M a couple of times. It's a hard score to get. Most people can't get over 200K on the game, let alone 1M.

Controls are key to this game. Bad controls will get you killed.

I played a few games last night, got around the same score (1.1m), but most of the games were 800k-900k.

Level 29 can be deadly.

I couldn't find the old thread, so I'm posting here... I finally broke 1 million about 5 mins ago... decided to play a game before I went to bed... turned out to be a good choice. I think I woke the rest of the house up with my maniacal laughter when the game was over... ran to grab my camera but the batteries are gone... no idea what the hell I'd've used 4AA's in, but I did get a few shots with my blackberry (machine was acting up this morning so I was paranoid about a reboot)... I don't know what all the settings stuff means (tournament, marathon, etc) it's just set at factory defaults... whatever that is... Sissy mode I guess?

Whatever, still happy I finally hit it... just barely, I was so paranoid about screwing up and missing it I ignored most of the enemies on the stage I was on (brain) and went for the humans. I probably could've went a LITTLE further, but still happy that I FINALLY managed to break it.
