I am thinking of putting something like this into the whirlpool lights on my WhiteWater.

I have blue 555 style lights in there now, and they just aren't very bright at all. When they light up, you don't really even notice them if you are playing. Anyone done this and can recommend it, or can point me to a pic or a vid? I haven't used LEDs anywhere else, as I don't really like them as a rule, but I'd like these lights to -pop- a bit more. Will this do the trick?

For that application, where you really want the color to "pop", I'd use either:

Cointaker 555 Super Bright Blue
http://www.cointaker.com/product.sc?productId=370&categoryId=60
555 BLUE SUPER Bright, Intense Blue color. Match with Blue inserts/colors. 6.3 VAC, uses less than a third of the power as a stock 555 bulb. No UV to fade game colors. No heat to damage machines. Solid State construction. No filament to break. 50,000 life. Great enhancement for your game. They are the best value for pinball backbox lighting. Also a brighter alternative for inserts than our standard leds.

or

Cointaker 555 Ultra Bright Blue
http://www.cointaker.com/product.sc?productId=282&categoryId=46
These have a ULTRA BRIGHT LED on top. Really light up INSERTS well. Have also used with PLAYFIELD GI and BACKBOX GI. High Quality, No Heat, Power Saving, Solid State Construction- No filament to break/burn-out. No UV to fade game colors. These are ULTRA BRIGHT !!!!!!

The Supers are very bright and clean color.
The Ultras are retina-searing.

Cheap enough to try either, since you only need a few.
