brand new wells 27" D9800...high pitch humming sound

ok bought a new wells D9800...after about 10 min. of it being on it makes this high pitched humming noise for like 30-45 seconds then stops and doesn't happen again till I turn on the monitor again...wells said they don't know why...any ideas?...should I return it or keep it?...just want to make sure the sound is not the start of something going bad...Thanks!
sorry for the long post!!

Should a new monitor do this? Absolutely not. Could it be nothing to worry about? More than likely just a noisy flyback which is not unheard of.

Should you send it back?
If you have to send the whole monitor back hell no.

I would honestly recommend you tell whom ever you bought it from that you'll agree to pay shipping for the CHASSIS to them and they can send you a new chassis.

If you bought it from WG, they'll pay for you to send back the chassis and send you another.

As for why it's doing it, have you verified that the input power is at 120? If it's low or high, it might be causing stress like you're hearing. You may also find it gets louder or quieter as you adjust the brightness on the flyback...

thanks guys for the info...power is good 120v also wells said they would ship me a whole monitor replacement...I just don't want to ship the whole thing back...pain in the ass...I think I will talk to them and say if the sound gets worse...that there is an understanding that I get a whole new monitor or a new chassis sent to me...thanks again!

Update: monitor was making humming sound...tracked it to flyback...used a non-conductive screwdriver pushed on the flyback very easy...and sound stopped...going to have wells ship me out a new chassis....Thanks Again!

Why not pull the chassis out and check the solder underneath? Or stick a toothpick in it?

maybe I will pull it out and do that....going to have to take it anyway...Thanks!
