Brand new arcades and pinballs that are going to be released

I wish they would at least link to the page detailing the games. I don't feel like searching for each one.

I hear you, so I've done some linking for games on the page. I wanted to do it earlier but I didn't find the time to do it as I want. I will start making specific pages for each game throughout the next week.

I already got two done for tonight - one for Friction and one for Robo Restle. I'll try and throw all I know about each game onto one page like that, along with videos to make it easier to follow. I won't be able to do that as much with the Japanese games but at least it should be something. More to write up tomorrow! :)

friction is a good game. Played it at a bay area arcade. Must have been there to see how it tested. It's like area 51 but pretty much better in every way possible from what I recall.

Friction is a fun game, when it's released I plan on getting the kit version where I will convert a Tsunami 39" cabinet over to it. For me the best part of the game would have to be the destructibility of the many objects, that makes it fun to break everything while mowing down the hordes of enemies.

I've updated the game release page with a new Sonic arcade game coming out later this year and a page for Pac-Man Battle Royale.

pengo looks awesome.. mame and a big ass 60" lcd tv, here we go!

They really should do Pengo on an 8-player cabinet, like Tank 8 or something. But a huge screen like you mention would be awesome too. :)

BTW - For any Darius fans out there, I've added Darius Burst Another Chronicle to the release list for USA and Europe. An English version of the game has now been confirmed and it will be coming out this year outside of Japan. If you haven't seen anything about DBAC, it's a four player Darius game with a double wide screen, much like the first Darius. I've got a page full of details on that game here.

Pengo in 2011?

Wow, if you asked me "What is the least likely classic arcade game to be remade in 2011?" Pengo would be at the top of the list.

One of my all-time favorites, though. Hope some machines find their way across the Pacific!

I think it's likely - if Sega decides to release the game. I haven't heard anything about it for a couple of months now which means they could be retooling it or it's been quietly canceled. If it is release though I think it's likely a kit version could make it's way over to the US as Sega USA has released a few kits lately, such as Sega Bass Fishing (trackball version) and they have a new Sega Rally 3 kit coming out soon.

Do you know if the Pengo remake has been released in Japan? Wikipedia says it's been released but as we all know, it's not the most reliable source ;)

No it has not been released yet :) It was last seen at the JAMMA '10 event, I have not heard anything about it since. The very reliable AM-Net.jp has no release date or price on this yet and usually they are the first ones to know - they track every arcade release in Japan and for now the new Pengo is blank on a release.

That said, it still could be in the works. Sega might be improving the graphics after testing the core concept out. They saw that it worked but it might need a little more shine to it for today's masses to pay attention too.
