Need some help from someone who uses a 1140. I am not sure if I have the settings right on this or not. It passes the diagnostic test but fails anytime I try to burn a chip. Either cannot complete or excessive voltage errors. Opened it and there were three resistors cut. I re soldered these without any changes.

Also what needs to be selected to burn m48t58y?

I didn't see an M48T58Y listed on the menu. Perhaps it is known by a different number.

When burning chips, they need to be installed at the top of the ZIF socket with the notch at the top.

It's just an 8K battery-backed SRAM... any programmer should be able to do it. Look in your device list for an 8K Dallas, like the DS1225. And remember, it's always going to fail the verify stage since one of the bytes of the M48T58 is the RTC (so it's always changing).

Also remember you need to jump the legs on the chip to program them.
