I came across an article in Video Games Magazine, Feb 1984 talking about an arcade game called Bouncer where you controlled a Bouncer in a bar (via a trackball) and moved around the bar floor and removing undesirable charactors before they bother other bar-going patrons. This company was Entertainment Sciences located in Huntington Beach, CA. This intrigued me so much as to Google the games title and I discovered that someone else had already devoted a whole website to this game and one other game, Turbo Sub created (but never released) from Entertainment Sciences, http://www.turbosub.com.

Check it out. I love stories like this. There is never a shortage of things to discover in this hobby.

I learned about this game after researching because of seeing it in Avid's signature for so long....

Hope he gets one someday.

I knew about this game through its appearance in the craptacular movie Ninja III.

I had no idea Entertainment Sciences was in Huntington Beach, CA, though. Is there an old address for their HQ? I'd love to do a drive-by and check out where it was...

Here's the flyer for Turbo Sub, has a Santa Ana address though... The Bouncer Flyer has no address on it.

Yeah, the whole Bouncer legend in amazing. But it is not really a legend... there should be one Bouncer game still out there somewhere.

I personally think it is only a matter of time. The game is probably quietly sitting a warehouse or garage, piled up with junk.

Supposedly one was spotted recently in an abandoned restaurant outside yosemite...

:D

Seriously someone must have it...and I'd pay big just to spend 5 minutes playing it to see if it was everything I expected.

That's pretty darn close to here. I ought to do a drive by, take a picture, and add it to my "What's there now?" thread...

The site

The site is acutally my cousin's creation. I helped him do the research. I have one of the few working turbo subs still in exsistance. No sign of Bouncer. I do have a control panel amd exta board set should the roms turn up.

i actually frequent some thrift stores that are very close to where the turbo subs were originally made in santa ana, ca.

hmmm..... maybe someday ill come across a turbo sub or a bouncer at the salvation army or goodwill. you never know!! it could happen.

Why not just build the game requirements from the known facts and code a new version? You could easily port it to Android or iPhones.

If I ever become rich I plan to do several things:

One, build the world's biggest damn personal museum of arcade games that'l rivel Jay Leno's classic car collection. Two, get my hands on one of the few Turbo Subs, have someone re-engineer the PCB to be smaller and do a limited run of boards so the game finally get's the recognition it deserves. And 3rd, hire some professionals to hunt down a Bouncer if it still exists anywhere, dump the ROMs for MAME and do a run of full reproduction cabs.

Ok, so does anyone here care to make me rich so I can get all this done? :p

Someone had a WTB Bouncer ad on LA craigslist a while back. I assumed it was from someone here.

It's entirely possible that a collector already has this game and wishes not to disclose that they have it. There are some major league collectors who never frequent KLOV.

If so I wish they'd just let everyone know one exist, even if I never see it I'll be happy to know at least one is safely in the hands of a collector. I think of games like someone's artwork and I hate the idea of any of them being lost forever, especially unique ones like Bouncer.
