Got it for cheap, just because I saw it, it's been sitting around a while so I grab it and go to put it in my Wii - OHHHHH no memory card. I hate shit like this. lol

I bought Biohazard when I had a Panasonic Gamecube (best looking console IMHO!), and had to figure that out in Japanese. Bad mistake. It wasn't fun at all...need to stick with the US releases of those.

I dunno, was the voice acting better at least? Ha.

I never played the GC version actually, did they rerecord the voice acting? Please say yes. God the original was so bad in that department.

Voice acting is better, the game is entirely re-done graphics/sound and even the progression, there's a lot of differences from the original. It's worth every penny and I urge you to pick it up, it's cheap, I paid like $8. The graphics hold up like a champ - GORGEOUS pre-rendered backgrounds and the character models are top notch.

I loved the voice acting in the original - It's horrible, but a good horrible.

The Gamecube remake is awesome although I can't play those games I get too scared :) Out of all of the REs I only finished RE2.

Resident Evil 2 is BY FAR my favorite of the series. RE was amazing when it came out, I had a friend who bought it pretty quickly after release - the PS longbox, that is now long lost. There was nothing like it, then RE2 came and it had multiple story lines, I've played through RE2 at least 4 times with both characters. I have the Leon disc around here somewhere, I'm going to re-buy that game today. RE2 was also my first pre-order, got it Babbage's, don't know if you guys had any of those stores, but it came with a free Capcom RE2 T-shirt that I still have today. lol I also had all the RE figures and 2 tyrants, which I couldn't keep in the package.

Nemesis was good
Code Veronica was weird - meh -
RE 4 didn't even really feel like RE to me at first. It was fun though.
Haven't played 5.

I love when you hit start on the game and the dude goes RESIDENT EEEEVVVVIIILLLL - It might be corny, but holy shit I love it.

Agreed. "DON'T......OPEN........THAT........DOOR.......!!!"

I remember reading about RE when it first came out and how everyone said to wait until the middle of the night to play it. So I rented that and a couple of other games and waited until about 1AM to start playing.

The voice acting almost killed it for me at the time, but I was laughing so whatever. I was still trying to adjust to the controls (at the time, that was really weird. Keep in mind we didn't have dualshock analog sticks yet!) when I roamed into the first doorway on the right. I pulled out my gun (I was playing as Jill) but there was nothing there so I started walking. Wehn the camera angle changed, I knew something was going to happen, but it was too late to prepare for it - those dogs jumped through the windows and and I just about shit myself trying to run away. Fortunately I think I survived and that's when I was sold on that game.

I rented it a couple more times before I finally bought my own copy. Unfortunately, I think I got the first run of it in the standard jewel case as the week prior I had still seen the long boxes everywhere. I found them a couple more times after that and always wanted to pick one up but never did (I was in middle school, I think and didn't have much of my own money :p).

I never got to finish it though...I made it back to the mansion with little to no ammo and those hunters just reamed me before I could make it to the next batch of waiting ammo.

Oh yeah.. I can't tell you how many times myself and my friends have reached to the sky and yelled.. "Noooo Don't Goooo" We would mock that scene anytime one of us would leave the bar, or a room etc.. it's multi faceted. Good times there.

"Is this Bood? I hope this isn't Chris's blood"

I never heard of the term Long Box before now. I have Resident Evil, Krazy Ivan, Warhawk, Philosoma and Wipeout in the long boxes (with the plastic "treads" on the left side). I do remember that Sony initially was buying plastic cases from Sega when the PS first came out.

Yeah, I have a few games from when I first got my PSX which was shortly after launch that were in long boxes. The MK3 that I have is clearly an old Sega CD case (or similar), while my Warhawk is in one of the cooler plastic long boxes. NBA In the Zone is in a cheaper and much lamer cardboard long box, much like some of the later Sega CD 32X games. I attached a pic of those three below.

I think there is another name for those "longboxes" but it escapes me now. Several years ago I ordered a couple dozen from a little online store since they break so easily. I hold onto them to replace broken cases of used games you find these days. It was worth it :)

I would love to buy all those longbox games off of you. Just shoot me a PM if you want to sell them. :)

They bought the black boxes off of Sega? My Sega CD and Saturn games are just giant jewel cases - I think Sony had those made, ribbed - for your pleasure.

Edit: I didn't remember some had giant jewels like the sega games.

Here's a little unrelated question - Did any of you guys get the Playstation Undgerground discs? - they were awesome, they had interviews with PS execs, and developers - game demos and all kinds of stuff. Man, the playstation was cool when it came out, they had such a good thing going. I also loved PSM, I started at issue 2 - with the Castlevania cover. Sony had to take the Playstation all corporate with the PS2, kind of ruined that good gamer flavor they had going on. Sooo much good, original, and new content came out on the PSX. I miss that time.
