Bought a rowe cd 100 without cd player for a 100, not sure what i got into... i pick it up tomorrow.. its got everything else i think. its my first juke box. Any help on where i can get the cd player will be much appreciated..whats the price range?

Hope you got a good deal on it!
The cd reader alone will cost you around $200+ but...
and it's a big one...
The readers have been updated over the years and you will most likely need to get the full kit so all the parts match.

Search through the old posts here, I remember Ken or Alan posted a very detailed discussion of everything involved including how to check your ROM chips version numbers and all that.

Good luck!

If your cd100 used a CDM-3 player, I believe I have at least 2 of them. They were extra players for my CD100 juke which I just sold. To my best knowledge I think they were tested and working.( I got them both off ebAy, working condition years ago ).

Need to know the EXACT model of the jukebox. Also need pictures of the mechanism to determine what player model was in it and weather it needs to be updated.

Thanks guys for the feedback.. I just picked it up this morning and will look in the manual for exact model on the jukebox and cd player, and post pics of whats missing in their...

The model number is in two places:

Outside rear of machine.

Inside on back wall above amplifier compartment.

Be sure you get all the keys with the jukebox when you pick it up. Do not lay it on it's back. Keep the jukebox upright and roll it s-l-o-w-l-y or you'll tear off the wheels on the bottom of the machine.

Here are some pics of my unit. It's a CD100A laserstar the year is 1989.

Here's the model and serial#

You have a CD-100 NOT a 100A. Plus yours has never had any upgrades.

Yours was originally supplied with a CDM3 player and it's matching mechanism decoder boardset. Yours has never had the original CD magazine holder replaced. It has the old style "wire frame" basket like the 45 rpm jukes had. Rowe issued a replacement kit that completely changed that out for a "molded" magazine. This prevents scratching of the discs.

Here are some helpful documents of what's needed:

Here's something I wrote on how to upgrade the power supply board:

Thanks for the schoolling guys

Thanks for the info.. I know a guy in town whos a family friend whos restores jukeboxs.. gonna hunt him down and see if he's got upgrades for my model.. I'll admit im most likely gonna go budget but ill keep you all posted on the outcome.. Thanks

Originally, the molded disc magazine ("basket" ) was supplied by Rowe free under warranty. We must have installed at least a dozen in our early CD-100 machines back in the day. After the jukebox warranty expired, Rowe was charging $300 for the Molded CD Magazine retrofit kit.

The average price on the player upgrade kit (CDM3 to CDPRO2) is around $600 through authorized Rowe distributors.

I decided to just replace missing cd player and cd control mech.. i got it for a hundred and ill let it scratch my out dated 90's alternative cd's.. on with the new...! Tomorrow i pick up a 1971 Seeburg, practically given to me.. The previous owner says it stopped playing a year ago.. when you give it a credit the player moves left to right as if its searching for a record, have you seen this operation before? I will post pics of juke and model number tomorrow.. once again, your expertise and time is much appreciated.

Sounds like the clutch that shifts it from scan to play is gummed up, very common with Seeburgs. I believe on that model you can stop the mechanism on the far left, facing the front of the jukebox, cut the power off, and remove that gray plastic module and its mounting bracket on the left side of the record rack to see the clutch. What you want to lubricate is the vertical shaft where it goes through that inch long piece with the spiral grooves in it. Just a couple of drops on top of that spiral gear and let it sit for a while. Hard to get at, simplest way is to put a little oil on the shaft of a screwdriver or piece of wire and dab it on. You might be able to do this without removing the bracket that holds the gray box. Use lightweight motor oil if you can, not 3 in 1 oil nor WD 40, and definitely not penetrating oil meant to loosen rusted bolts. Plug that selection module back in and give it a try. If no joy, let it sit overnight and try again. Keep us posted, and welcome to the jukebox world.

There actually was a CD Player Upgrade available thru HAPP CONTROLS ( Not Rowe ). It featured a Sanyo player and a new Decoder Unit. Costs around $ 400. I've installed 3 of them and never had a CD problem since. Again , I do have at least 2 sets of CDM3 players and decoder boards available if anyone else needs them.

Dave.

How does that Rowe sound?
Can you hear it over that giant sucking sound coming from your wallet? LOL

Have you considered one of them MP3 kits for it?
Replace the cd mech with a hard drive and you're jamming.

Good deal on the Burg, Welcome back to vinyl!
Keep your oil can handy too.

I have 2 sets of CDM-3 players and Decoder pcbs. Bought both off eBay many years ago listed in working condition for my CD-100 juke. Never used them.

Sold my juke, so with that in mind I am unable to test them now and must sell them AS-IS per set.

Set # 1 : CDM-3 player and Decoder ( 61030703 ). $50 plus $12 shipping USA.

Set # 2 : CDM-3 player and Decoder ( 61030705 ). $ 50 plus $12 shipping USA.
