Don't overfill it at home or you won't eat the candy fast enough and it will get icky.

I found that putting an old Northwestern machine with a .50 cent mech in it kept my co-workers from stealing my cashews from my desk. hah.

That's cool as hell Roy, nice grab. I have a 3 headed one as well. I usually put skittles and reese's pieces in there. One time I had Boston baked beans in the third slot.

They should be adjustable. Im just not sure how to do it on yours sorry :(

On mine, the part that the candy goes into then spins when a coin is put through it pulls open or pushed closed to adjust the size. I cant tell if yours is like that or not.

Nice pickup. I usually buy the gumballs for my gumball machines from Sams Club. They have other candy in bulk also.

If you post in the 'Trade Stimulators, Vending, Coin-op Scales, and Misc. Machines' forum, there will probably be somebody to help you out with the sizing.

To adjust the portion size, you have to empty the candy compartment that you want to adjust. After the candy is out, you'll see the vending wheel at the bottom. There should be a cover w/ scrapers (mine has springs) on top of the vending wheel with a couple screws that you undo to remove the cover. After you remove the cover, you'll see a portion control plate sitting on top of the vending wheel which controls the portion size. Adjust the portion plate to where you want it, increasing or decreasing the opening, then put everything back together in reverse order. I forget what kind of machine yours is, but it's based on the Northwestern triple-head design. Here are a few pics of my Northwestern. First pic is all taken apart. The three-spoked plastic pieces at the bottom of the pic are candy wheels, the metal three-spoked pieces are the portion plate adjusters, and the half-circle plastic pieces are the covers. The large piece at the top of the pic is the hopper that everything sits inside of.

The candy wheel all by itself, from the bottom side. Note the red timing marks. If you take the wheel out, you have to line up one of those red dots w/ the marks inside the head for the machine to vend properly.

Looking down into the head, with the covers removed and the portion wheels removed, but the candy dispensing wheels still inside --

All put back together, view from the back side --

They're pretty simple mechanisms, really, b/c they're meant to be adjusted in the field w/ minimal fuss. Just take your time and take a few pics along the way and you'll be fine. Also keep in mind that there are candy wheels, like the ones in my pics above, and then there are gumball wheels, wheels for dispensing toys in the little plastic capsules, etc. If you find that you have wheels with smaller round openings, which are meant for gumballs or toys, you may have to switch them out for a candy wheel.

Hope that helps.

Also, if you have not thoroughly cleaned your machine yet, I would highly recommend doing so. Candy gets kinda funkadelic after being in there for a while, especially if the machine was ever sitting near a window in the sun.
