I've been playing the Bottom of the Ninth game that is currently residing in my Punch Out project. It's a fun game, but unfortunately it's a bit loose with the rules of baseball.

Off the top of my head, it doesn't require runners to re-tag bases when a ball is caught for an out. Secondly, it allows runners to score on 3rd out situations...

WTF... douchebags couldn't program the damn game to follow the basic rules of baseball?

I was just playing this the other day... as I have the PCB and just rotated my Candy back.

On the first pitch, I hit the B button (not knowing what button did what) and it bunted the ball. And the AI couldn't field the ball. Homerun!!!

Then on the second pitch. I did the same thing. HOMERUN!!!

Finally on the third batter, they were able to field the ball.

And throwing to bases. WTF!
Every baseball game known to man uses the directional plus throw button. Press up and B to throw to second. But this game is all fucked up.

that's pretty cheap that they'll let you get a sacrifice fly on a 3rd out situation. will it let you do stuff like a suicide squeeze as well? or is that too much for the gameplay to let you do.

I didn't play long... But I think Intelivision Baseball was much better.

I remember the first (and last) Bottom of the Ninth that I made. My boss had me stick it in a Rally X cabinet.

After I played it a few times I started calling the machine "Bottom of the Barrel" because it sucked so bad.

simply put, bottom of the 9th is the stupidest game I have ever played.
my opinion

I paid someone $20 bucks to take the pcb from me.

During the summer I was able to grab a Bottom of the Ninth for $40 off Craigslist. It literally was the fastest arcade transaction I've made yet. I backed into the seller's driveway, as the guy is standing there with the game. I hand him a couple $20's and while we are tipping it into the back of the truck the guy is explaining how his wife got it as a project gift for him and in the process of moving it into their new house they noticed the monitor now only produced video gibberish. 2 minutes and I'm back on the road. It came with an extra Bottom of the Ninth pcb, extra T-molding, and extra random parts. Once I got it home I discovered it only needed to be adjusted and it was working fine. A few months went by and I decided to change it into something else. It was originally a Stargate, then a Joker Poker, then Bottom of the Ninth (all the layers of control panel overlays were there). Since they had used fleckstone textured spray on the sides of the cab and it was converted to JAMMA I decided I could basically convert it to whatever JAMMA title I wanted with feeling no guilt of it's original form. I ordered a new marquee, custom painted the control panel and glass/bezel, to fit the theme of the game and transformed it into an Aliens.
