i would check craiglist every day and buy them one at a time, depending how often they are listed in your area. i have heard of people buyign containers recently and got very few working games out of all of them. and there were so many incomplete machines and stuff that needed a few hundred dollar repairs mixed in

Hey guys, My boss at work has a bunch of money that he wants to do something with as a investment/hobby.

Ability to make money with pinball relies heavily on being able to repair games yourself. If your boss isn't currently a seasoned pinball restorer he's going to have a very hard time making money on a container. Even if he were a pinball Jedi it would still be tough for the reasons already mentioned by others.

I would echo what others have said and suggest keeping an eye out for good deals on games locally and do one or a few at a time. Less risk and a greater potential to actually make money because you're making a more calculated risk when you buy the game (you can inspect it).

He wants to find a container of pins from overseas or a old operator and have a hobby of fixing them up and selling them. (He likes to work on stuff like this) Anyone know where to begin looking for something like that for him.

Finding an old operator is definitely your best option assuming you have a lot of cash on hand, you find the right operator and you are willing to buy on the spot. That's probably going to be a tall order. Most warehouses were raided a long time ago. They are still out there but you have to find them. No one is going to point you to the next great warehouse raid on the internet. You'll have to turn over some rocks and find it for yourself. That is a case where you can definitely make money buying in bulk. Good luck finding the gold mine. There are a lot of prospectors out there.
