Calling all Pac-Man experts :D I recently picked up a bunch of bootleg Pac-Man boards. A couple of them have issues (I'll make separate posts) Two of them were PAC-1/PAC-2 boardsets with Pop Man ROM's (Pac-Man with Popeye's head and a different maze) in them. One works 100%, but the other one just comes up with garbage. A few things I've done so far with little/no change (the working board still works 100% after doing these):
Swapped Z80's on both boards.
Swapped the 1 socketed PROM (on the PAC-1 board, the one with the edge connectors)
Swapped the PAC-2 board (the one with 4 EPROMs and without the edge connectors)
Swapped the interconnect cable

Also, since I have JAMMA adapters for both Pac-Man (22/44) and Falcon (18/36), and these boards have both of those, I tried both:
With the Pac-Man JAMMA adapter, it shows the 2nd pic in normal mode, and garbage in test mode.
With the Falcon adapter, it shows the 3rd pic (which is similar to when it's in test mode on the 22/44 edge connector. The Falcon one doesn't support the test mode switch)
There's nothing else socketed for me to swap out. The EPROM's are good, as I put all of them in the working board and it worked 100%. 4th pic is how it should look (from the 100% working board)
Any ideas what might be wrong, or what else to check? Thanks!

Troubleshoot these just as if they were a midway boardset. Although slightly different its still basically the same hardware.
Color proms wont keep it from booting. Start out by checking voltage on the board, check clock and reset on cpu then go from there.

If your interested I have 7 bootleg boards up for sale. http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?p=1668914#post1668914

Yeah, I saw those...been contemplating grabbing them :) Actually could use a few things from your site too (an AY-3-8910 to replace a bad one on one of my Crazy Kong boards, some EPROM's, etc)

If they are the same board sets can you swap them around to see which individual board has the problems?

Place an order on the site and you can have the lot of boots for $50 shipped.

Wow, sounds good. I'll try and work on a list this weekend and send you a PM. I don't have a paypal account, but I see you take money orders.

Oh, and to channelmanic, yeah, I already tried swapping the two boards with no change. Obviously I can't swap the one with the edge connector, but swapping out the PAC-2 (the one with the 4 graphic eproms) makes no difference...it doesn't work on the one PAC-1 board, and either one works on the other (working) PAC-1 board.

Sorry, no updates. Haven't messed with them at all, and hadn't ordered any parts from Riptor yet. I set them aside and kinda forgot about them ;)
