Bootleg GHOULS N GHOSTS--on eBay.

bootleg isn't exactly the correct term for it.

I would call it a conversion myself. Compatible hardware and they swapped the chips for programmable ones.

so similar in terms of the CPS2 boards that get swapped to a different game when they get phoenixed? is that a lot for a conversion board? actually never knew it ran on CPS1 !??!

I posted this in other Ghouls And Ghost threads... buyer beware they are not original however they do play the same and are conversions...ebay user epayrob converts CPS Games to Ghouls N' Ghosts.. or at least his past sales history would indicate that he does:

I looked at some of his history and clearly for a RARE board... he seems to have alot of them ... or perhaps he's just buring chips ? I probably missed a bunch... I just remember seeing him list them all the time

All three original GHOULS boards do not have a SUICIDE BATTERY; so, there is no need to REVIVE or PHOENIX an original, working GHOULS board.

CAPCOM made the first two GHOULS boards (US / JAPAN) on very early CPS-1 hardware. So early, that GHOULS (and a few other titles) ended up becoming very unique CPS-1 hardware amongst the later CPS-1 titles published by CAPCOM. Thus, these two early GHOULS boards do not lend themselves to being converted to other CAPCOM titles very easily. And, that's why these early original boards often get repaired.

But, CAPCOM put the third release of GHOULS (JP) on a more modern (standard) type of CPS-1 platform. The one that was used for SF2. So, this is the GHOULS code that people like to use to make bootleg conversions. This is the version of GHOULS that is conversion friendly--if a game can be called such a thing.

Is it a lot for a boot? Well, that all depends upon who you know. Some members I know would say that they can build a boot GHOULS board for $75.00-$150.00 ; so, IMHO it is (or was) ballpark. for a boot GHOULS board.
