I have a bootleg Street Fighter Champion Rainbow edition board. I would like to change it back to regular Champion Edition.

Looks like there are four socketed Eproms. With all the different versions of roms in mame, does anyone know which files I need?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try M8 version from mame thats standard SF2 CE that runs on these PCBs You just need to change the 4 roms located next to CPU.

Ive done this before and has worked fine but had a small issue which two of these pcbs that i couldnt work out.

Once you install the M8 roms game boots but sits on the ram/rom test screen i couldnt figure out why it did this for so if you get to that point and won't go any further you got one of those PCBs that won't run that version. Installing any other version from mame worked fine on the said PCBs so not sure really why it refused to boot.

So I got the M8 version from mame. There are like 45 files in there? Any idea which 4 files I need to burn for the 4 eproms?

I'm interested as well. Looking at the PCB's I have, it'd be amazing if I could just get them running standard CE.

The 4 boot roms which are

ycc-2.2
ycc-3.4
ycc-4.1
ycc-5.3

Thanks for the response. I see those 4 files from mame. Would you know which file goes with which chip location? See pic.

I don't know a lot about the board level stuff but isn't that a bootleg board?

yyc-2.2 is U222
yyc-3.4 is U196

yyc-4.1 and yyc-5.3 are the other 2 i don't have the PCB in front of me at the moment but the first 2 are correct so try 4.1 next in U221 and 5.3 in U195 if it boots to a garbage screen swap U221 and U195 around.

Like i said if it boots up and sits on that ram/rom test that PCB wont run that version for some reason i think it might be to do with mapping or one of the PALs on that PCB that does the address i am not 100% sure

If you get a chance to give it a try, could you please report back with your results.

Also, do you have a picture of your board? I know there were many different versions.

yyc-5.3 goes into U221
yyc-4.1 goes into U195

Got the code running on one of my boards so far!

Nice to have a decent unmodified CE running on these cheapo boards.

You're going to need 2 27c040's and 2 27c010's.

Glad to know it worked. Since I'm out of the 27c010 chips, looks like I'll have to wait a month for my order from China before I can try it myself.

Stoog, Thanks again for the info.

Can you not simply blank the EPROMs it came with? That's where my 27c040's came from.

one of the original 010's on mine had a broken pin so it got replaced with a Winbond part.
