Bootleg Arkanoid board, bought another one but its Different :-/

I admit I'm just getting into arcades so I'm not sure what I'm doing 100% :)

I had another thread about my arkanoid with detailed pictures, I was told it was a Boot Leg Board, I had no clue such a thing existed

The Thread I made http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=264020

So the other day I was looking on ebay and found one for sale, tested and working for $35 bucks, why wouldn't I buy it, so I did.

Well the boards are very similar but are missing two or three Roms or whatever they are called, can you point out what the technical terms of what is missing and if I can ever use this board ?

Again, I thought hey $35 bucks to get another board and swap it out why not try.

As you can see the Roms are Numbered on the one that came in the Arcade and the one I bought is Lettered...

I'll sell you an original Arkanoid board for $40 delivered if you want it....solve your problem. Send me a PM if you are interested.

What I'm not sure of will the " Original Board " plug in and play. I am not 100% sure what has been all chopped up in the harness when it was all " original parts "

Doesn't look like your missing any roms man.. Both pcbs are arkanoid bootlegs.
Here is the pinout of this pcb:

I've got a bunch of arkanoid boots, also a few originals. If you need another which I kinda doubt, pay shipping and I'll toss one in a box for you.. On vacation now, back in a week.

That is very nice of you to offer this, when looking at my picture you can see the numbers and letters, the one I just bought you can see on the right side A , B, rom and then a missing one.

On the other board that came with the machine its clearly 1, 2, rom, 6

I hope that is not a pic of the 'working' board you just bought, is it?

Yes sir it is.....

So I swapped bootleg to bootleg, seller has a return policy but I want to make sure both bootlegs are the same.

Re check ALL wining with this pinout to make certain that all voltages and connections are correct. I suspect a syc problem....Note #4 is a neg. sync....

The new board you bought gets its power from that connector next to edge connector (like a real Taito board would). Your old bootleg board has the power routed to the edge connector.
Also, your new bootleg board does not use a microcontroller at IC84 (what you are calling ROM 6 on your other board), so that is normal.

Heh, like I said.. No missing chips.. If it was you'd have empty sockets.

Matt knows his shit when it comes to arkanoid. You'll have to modify or make a new connector for the new pcb you bought. As its not a direct swap. I'd bet it works just fine as the seller stated, unless because its not the same pinout you may have damaged it.

+1

The thing to do now is look at the schematics and see where the power lines actually went.

Time to get out my multi-meter and see where the 12 v and 5v went to....

What I have to find out is witch ones of the edge connectors are the power and ground, I'm just confused how there would be two bootleg boards of the same game but are powered up different.

Hey I'm new so my goof.....

To the basement I go...

Arkanoid was quite popular when it came out, and used relatively simple hardware (it was kind of a throw-back, simplicity-wise). That made it a great target for ripping off. I'd expect there are more than two varieties of Arkanoid "bootleg" floating around.

Hey I know this is an older thread but I have a board that I "think" is an Arkaniod boot but its a bit different. As you can see, ground and power is on 12345/abcde and there is some daughter board in the middle. Anyone know anything about this PCB?
The pinout is obviously different

figured it out
Arkanoid 1025 boot
