Why do most of you use Bondo when restoring cabinets? I have used that on cars and I thought thats what it was for. Why not use a good spackle or Durham's putty?

Im wondering because soon I'll begin a Tron restoration. My first one. See pics. It has some damage. Not horrible but not great.

Isn't it more durable than those? Or cheaper? Or more versatile? Or does it dry faster? I'm actually serious. I thought that's why people used it. For one or a combination of those things.

Many use Bondo because it works and you can get a lot of it very cheap. The bad thing about it is it stinks and the smell is very strong.I started off using bondo on my Frogger resto, but have since started using epoxy putty. It is very easy to work with and hardens quickly.(~5 mins)

One reason not to use wood filler or other similar products is that it is water based and if you use the wet method of applying side art, the filler can get soft again. When you attempt to smooth out the water you start moving the filler around too.
