Hey all,

I have a cabinet this is missing a chunk on the bottom and want to build it back up with bondo. I also have to leave space for the t-molding. any ideas on the best way to do this? Do I use blocks of wood with wax paper to guide it? Any info would be great!!

A picture is worth a thousand words.:p
If the corner is missing entirely then I put a few screws in to act as reinforcing then clamp a board with plastic wrap or wax paper under it and make a border around the edges and bondo away.
It doesn't have to be exact but close.
You will have to do multiple applications anyway.
Once you get it close then just build up the edges till they are square.
If just one edge is damaged then I don't use any thing to hold the bondo,I just build them up with my putty knife.
I recut the Tmolding slot after the repair is complete.

Bondo away and fix and sand fix and sand fix and sand
Use a slot cutter on your router

and paint, easy as pie

If its on an edge or a corner, using some wood blocks as a mold can save a lot of time sanding later. I use Reynolds Release aluminum foil rather than wax paper. One side is coated with a silicon release material. The bondo does't stick to it at all. It's amazing stuff. Look for it at a grocery store.

only issue then is that silicone absoultely makes paint fisheye like a bizzsnatch! sam ewith wax( aka wax paper)

Ironically enough i learned a neat trick in the auto biz..

say you have a big rusthole.. apply bondo to a frech piece of notebook paper.. stick over hole and wait till it starts to get hot, then peel the notebook paper off.. voila

How did the bondo stay in without a backing piece in place to hold it.
I would lmao if the car pulled out and hit a bump and the whole piece popped out.
