So I picked up a cheap, late model Ms. Pacman with some particle board swelling at the bottom.
Currently it is still "solid" but after sanding (flaking, or whatever verb is used for swelled particle board) there will be missing wood around the bottom edges.
My plan to fix is:
1.) Add some wood blocking inside the machine to reinforce the bottom corners. (this isn't needed, but I always overdo, I figure it has got to be weakened a bit)
2.) Sand off or otherwise remove the swelled and badly damaged portions of the particle board.
3.) Liberally douse the remaining exposed/damaged particle board with wood hardener.
4.) Fill in missing areas with bondo
5.) Sand and paint the finished edge.
This will put a bondo bottom corner on the sides and front of the machine.
Will the bondo crack or chip off if struck during normal to careful moving?
At least on the front, the rubber kick plate is there to cover everything.
