I turned on my bobby or power play after a couple years, and it came right up. But afeter a while it went dead, displays blank. rebooot came right up, stayed on a couple hours, then died. It is not really in a place where I cam get ready axcess, so it will take me a couple hours to move enough stuff to get it out. I was thinking connectins on the ps board, and cpu. If anyone has had this prblem let me know what fixed it.
Thank you

Almost definately a power issue - connectors, the power supply itself, drop in mains voltage, who knows?

Were you playing it when it re-booted?

Without digging in more it's difficult to tell. Shouldn't be too hard to sort out if you want.

If it's been sitting a couple of years, and you still have a battery on that MPU board, definitely check it to make sure it's not leaking and eating up the MPU board. The battery is right there next to the reset circuit, and can easily eat it up, along with some critical ground traces in the area.

If the Solenoid Driver Board has never been recapped, probably worth rebuilding it - entirely possible your voltages are off a bit, or you're getting some AC ripple in your DC voltages which can cause resets like that.

It may well be just a matter of reseating a few connectors (IE bottom left on the MPU board), but if it's been sitting that long, it's a good idea to go over everything.

It can even be oxidation on the legs of the socketed chips, ROMS (especially if original) and otherwise, especially the PIA's (6821's at U10 and U11) and the 6800 (at U9). Oxides are very resistant; as current flows and the board heats up, heat causes more resistance - and eventually the circuits "go to sleep" as you suggested.

Thank you so much for all the kind replys and good ideals. I realize now that it is more like 5 or 6 years. The battery is off the cpu, and in a seperate holder, I removed it when I stored it. when I coined it up and started a game the bonus hole at the top and the outhole kicker both started pulseing. I figured that it was a stuck switch. I have to get it out where I can get into it better before I can look.
This was my first game, and I got it after a rough divorce. One of my coworkers is in the same spot and asked if he could buy a pin for $500. If I can get bobby going I will let him have it for that, just what I paid.
