Bob Roberts slowing things down a bit due to health issues..keep him in your thoughts

I sure hope his health recovers and he's around for MANY more years, not for this hobby, but for his own enjoyment. I've actually had a draft email in my yahoo mail, putting together an order, for a couple of weeks. Now, I guess I'll send it out soon. This hobby sure has been a lot easier with Bob's help.

Wow, + another for prayers! I have a list to order right now, but it's all copy/paste links from his site, as he has asked us to do. I agree too that a card is due; that man is the man!

ANybody know how old bob is?

in any event this sucks man. Great guy man, would suck if he had to bow out.

I was just getting ready to order parts too for a repair job im doing.. oh boy..
That's an interesting question about his age. I thought I read on his website that he retired from the business before starting to sell things from his website. In any case, I just echo what's already been said. My thoughts and prayers are with him and hopefully this is nothing alarming. As much as he's been an asset to the community over the years, you can also tell he's just a genuinely nice guy that goes the extra mile to help people.

That's the best thing anyone can do for Bob at this point - do your own homework, so he can concentrate on filling orders. It's great that he's been a wealth of knowledge to the hobby but a guy can only work so many hours in the day.

Richard

I would hope that everyone cuts back on their ordering for awhile to give him a break - I don't know Bob, but I can tell by the way he conducts business that even if the Dr. orders him to slow down or take time off, he won't do it, especially if the orders are piling up.

I'll be sending a card, I wonder if I can find anything arcade related...

my thoughts and prayers go out to bob and alice, and i hope everything works out for him. he is truly an asset to this community, and i can't count the times he's helped me out, even if it's just info and tips from his website. he'll be getting a card and moonpie from me for sure.

Yeah that really sucks to hear. My best wishes as well get better soon Bob. Sounds like he needs to hire 1 or 2 people and not destroy himself like that anymore.

Moonpies?!? The only ones I have ever seen are the ones he has sent me, and well, those are gone..

not only that but i'd be happy to throw a few extra bucks into each order for the cause. his prices are a lot better than they should be, cause he's such a great guy, but maybe raising his prices a little would give him a little more cash and help out with everything.

On top of a card, someone should print out this thread and mail it to him...

Hang in there, Bob. Like everyone else is saying, take quite a few steps backwards, and take care of yourself. You are good people, and need to be healthy and happy.

Time to give back guys....What do we do for him? Something that he needs and can't donate back to charity.;)

I wish nothing but the best for Bob, what a great guy and an asset to the collector community and if he's like that in the rest of his life, an asset to everyone. - Barry

Can you even fathom what it must take not to fill all those orders, and answer all those emails...... ........... .......... but to keep all that STOCK in? Good lord, I don't even see how 1 person could keep everything ordered that he has to order.

I mean, he keeps a complete line of capacitors and resistors. Keeping that stuff in stock alone could take several hours a week. Countless ic's and transistors that nobody makes anymore. Joysticks and buttons in every color under the sun, then after that he's got oddball colors listed that he bought on clearance or whatever and added to the list. Capkits hand assembled for dozens of monitors. Jamma Harnesses alone would be a full time business. Every connector, pin, and connector housing available, even stuff they don't make anymore. A full compliment of flybacks; kits he put together with flyback/hot/fuse/caps .... cabinet parts in several sizes.

The list goes on and on. You know Bob's the type of guy too that's probably hands on with allll of that, so you can bet he's filling out every order. Plus, on top of all that, HE VIDEOTAPES THEMSELVES PACKAGING ALL THE BOXES UP!

I mean he takes it to a whole 'nother level. I hope he gets the opportunity to relax and slow it down a little bit. He's not having health issues because he's old, he's having health issues because he's a human trying to do the job of 5 robots.

Get well soon Bob! Take it easy!

I send my best thoughts and wishes to Bob...he has been "the man" to go to ever since I started down the collecting road in a serious way about 11 years ago.

I will definitely be sending him a "get well" card ASAP.

Jonathan

I just got a few cap kits from him last week after posting here on KLOV and taking everyone's recommendations to go to him for help. I haven't dealt with him very much obviously.

But, even though my arcade repair 'career' (OK, more of a hobby with a paycheck) is only months long, I cannot imagine how everyone who works on games would be getting on without his hard work. I've hit his site almost daily while working on things at the arcade I work at.

I really hope he's alright.

I have nothing but good words and best wishes for Bob Roberts. He's been a valuable resource and a cool guy to deal with since I can even remember. I remember being shocked and confused when I first received a package from him with a box of cookies tossed in. :)

...and yeah. For real. Who bugs him over specific game part numbers? Just give the man your order and do your own research on KLOV/Google. Sheesh.
