So I went ahead and wrote a little quick order tool for myself with shopping with Bob Roberts. It snatches the parts page and then adds some nifty little cart functionality that dumps it into an email given your systems set up correctly. I'm looking for some input on it. If enough people chose to use it and with Bob's blessing I'll buy a domain for it and host it on my server and possibly adapt more pages than just the parts page.

Right now the functionality/design is very rudimentary but eventually I imagine adding a cart edit system as well as styles/cookie system to save peoples preferences for the background etc.

Anyhow feel free to give it a whirl but realize to double check the prices with the actual page as I haven't done so in depth and there could be discrepancy somewhere.
UPDATE:

I bought and moved it to:
http://orderfrombob.com/

CAP KIT PAGE NOW AVAILABLE!!
http://orderfrombob.com/cap-kits

UPDATE 6/20/11:
Rebuilt the cart system with sessions! (you can now leave/come back and the cart is restored!)
Linked Nav to 'cap-kits' page and linked cart (now you can add parts/cap kits to your order!)

UPDATE 6/21/11:
Added the ability to copy the cart contents to clipboard in order paste it into an email client.

Share and enjoy!

Dude, that's really cool. SERIOUSLY cool. What a great idea.

However, when using with Safari on the Mac it only puts the first item in the e-mail. :(

I just tried it again and it seemed to work fine. ODD.

Anyways, nice job. I love it.

Glad everyone who's tried it so far hasn't had too many issues. Any suggestions in terms of features you'd like to see? Any ideas as to what url I should put it at?

I would like to see the pics on the page below each heading or in a 4th column(standard sized pic)
OrderFromBob.com?

I originally had all the pics loading on page a standard size but it slowed down the page significantly having to load everything. (There's like 60+ images on that page) I could cache the images on my server and resize them dynamically but I just opted for the shadowbox that loads up. This way it doesn't kill bobs server with loading each image every pageload and saves me the headache of trying cache them.
Orderfrombob.com .. I like that... It's not taken either.

Anyhow I updated the navigation so it's more verbose.

I didn't try it out, but if I want to order more than one, do I have to click the "add to cart" button multiple times? Or will it ask me how many? Or can a Quantity box be added?

Currently 2 clicks = qty x 2. It doesn't automatically create and send orders so feel free to mess with it. It generates the email for you but you can edit the email before it goes out. I encourage it jic you order the wrong thing. I plan on doing a cart confirmation screen to change quantities in the near future. I'm tired of coding ATM though and wanted to get back to working on my machines. :)

Must you use an email client such as Outlook or does it work with yahoo? If it doesn't work with the yahoo/gmail types, then ciukd you have it launch textpad so we can copy/paste?

Also, if you could get it to work with safari, then those of us who want to shop during our commute could do so.

Very nice and an awesome idea!
I had the same issue with it only adding 1 item correctly to my cart. I wish I could give more detail but I was just messing around with it. I am running FF on win7 and use thunderbird for email. I will try and do a more methodical test when I get a sec...

cheers
/Tim
