Bob Roberts Atari AC power supply rebuild kits problems???

anyone else get these with the pink spade connectors that have no chance of fitting these 14-16 gauge wires(whatever Atari brick wires are) for the fuse holder rebuild? this pisses me off that they are so small its for like a 22g i think!

also the fuses must all be different in my Pole Position and kit, either that or the label on brick is incorrect. i heard that you use a 25amp SB fuse for the F3(Bob has a 20amp in kit) and the rest are 4amp SB....is this correct for PP???

As I would agree with you regarding the spade connectors, on the bright side, at least it's a commonly found part to get. It could've been something that has to be special ordered from somewhere else, at least with those, you can got to Menards, Radio Shack, where ever to pick those up.

They come with the Jamma harness kits as well, they will work for most connections, but they don't for most joysticks either, they're too small to slide onto the micro switches.

Did you talk to Bob about this? He may have some reason he puts certain parts in, and if they don't work for a significant number of buyers, he should know that.

The one time I had a problem with one of his kits (wrong voltage regulator) it turned out that he had received a bunch of regulators that were mixed in the tube (his supplier screwed up). He hadn't checked every one, so a 'wrong' one had made it to me. He had new parts to me in a day or so.

If there's a problem, contact Bob. If he did something wrong, he'll make it right.

well heck, i don't know how you even slide a wire into these! they are very small for the wire to be installed and crimped. it would have to be very very small gauged wires....definitely not for power connectors i wouldn't think!!

yeah, im sure he would but i just dont like being one of those people that will bitch about something....even if it is not the right part! but your right i should let him know, just don't expect anything in return.

The thing to do might be to phrase your contact as 'hey, this isn't working, what am I doing wrong?'. That phrasing (even when you think you aren't wrong) keeps the other guy from going defensive. It invites help instead of creating conflict. And on those times when you ARE wrong, it prevents you looking stupid.

good call, and very true!

Bob is an arcade God, although sometimes I swear it's his wife that is answering some of the emails.
