I hate ordering from Bob. Why? Because I always "need" one thing but feel sort the need to purchase a bunch of things in order to save on shipping...

...so because I need a WG6100 cap-kit... I get to poke around the site and find other useless crap I "need" to increase my order to where the shipping is reasonable.

Anyone else do this?

What other crap do I need?

Are the JAMMA pin pullers worth it?

I do that all the time..I wait until I have like a 30 dollar order minimum before e-mailing Bob.

Agreed. Luckily, I will be placing a large order with him next week. I'll be pissed if I forget one or two things though- and I always do!

Right there with you. I need a K7000 cap kit but it takes some time on his site to find other stuff I "need".

I have this issue with pinball parts. I have placed two orders for the machine I'm working on so far, and I waited a good long while until I knew 90% of what I was going to need to place the 2nd one...

First one was 150$, and the 2nd one was around 100$?

Shipping is about dang near ludicrous. How is it people around here can sell and ship out a PCB for 20-30$ but when you order some LEDs and star posts, shipping can be 10$?!?! I ain't paying that for that!

Also recently: Shipping costs 4$ for a spinner decal set and a drop target decal set, courtesy of Planetary Pinball. THEY FIT IN A FREAKING ENVELOPE, MAN!!! IT'S LIKE FIFTY CENTS TO SEND IT!!

/frustrated

Shipping and HANDLING, man. Don't forget the handling. You gotta pay for all the expenses related to getting that decal in the envelope. $4 for shipping is probably putting about $1 of profit into the Planetary Pinball's pocket if the place is run as a business with an employee doing the work, and not a hobby where the guy puts his time in for free.

Still hard to swallow, though, esp. when you buy a $5 decal and it almost doubles the cost.

These small things can be pretty useful.

I use my "helping hands with magnifier" all the time now (http://therealbobroberts.net/magnify.jpg).

Some of my favorite PCBs have been found in his for sale section and I've been pretty good at being able to fix them up. I still wish I could have bought that working $20 Rastan PCB he shows, but someone else got it.

If anything, I like his 1 lb. of solder roll because everyone goes through that and it is good quality. Sometimes he will run things on sale that I'll need later, like the quick change JAMMA board mount.

Did you buy the new smaller one? That's what I used last time and it worked great. I'm not sure what the advantage of the larger, more expensive version is.

Larger one includes adjustable pots. Not sure why that is a "feature" though.

I do the wait until I get enough stuff with a lot of vendors, not just Bob. Or I'll bite the bullet and go down to the local electronic junk shop and pay more for instant gratification.

I thought that was an undesirable "feature" why not email mark and get his. I always keep a few of his around.

oh and I signed up for bill pay through my bank with bob now, man it's the greatest thing ever. I don't have to worry about getting a check from my wife, getting it mailed, etc.

Meh. That's all I have to say. It's not that much work, shipping companies pick up, and 4$ to ship something that small is asinine any way you slice it. It ain't gold leaf.

I have 2 LV6100's (Star Wars & Tempest)... and I installed an LV6100 on the last SW upright I had... I figured I'd try something different this time. Price-wise they're similar...
