I know that there was a list of PCB's that would plug into the harness of a scramble cab. I can't seem to find it. Does anyone remember what these boards might be?

Thanks

according to Mike's Arcade, the Konami Classic pinout series includes Amidar, Armored Car, Circus Charlie, Dark Planet, Gyruss, Lost Tomb, Mikie, Minefield, Pooyan, Rescue, Roc'n Rope, Scramble, Strategy X, Super Cobra, Tazz Mania, The End, The Hustler, Time Pilot, Turtles, Tutankham, and Yie Ar Kung-Fu.

i also know that you can use Time Pilot '84.

of course, there may be a few of these that will not be immediately playable due to control wiring issues, and Gyruss will not have all the sounds as Scramble isn't a stereo cabinet.

Scramble uses two fire buttons.
Work yes, being fully playable, no. A way around this is to tie both buttons together, so they fire at the same time. However, that definitely changes the gameplay.

There are some other Konami classic games too, including Jail Break and Frogger (let me see if I can dig-up my list). The Hustler is also know as Lil' Hustler by Dynamo.

I am running both Gyruss and Scramble in my Scramble cab now - plug n chug.

Button wiring is a little weird for Gyruss, but it works.

Interesting. How is your fire button, and bomb button wired. Would love to see some pics:cool:

Picked up a Time pilot 84 for 20 bucks on Ebay today...Figure I will throw that in there. So Frogger will work too huh?

Yep, no question, it's classic Konami. Second to JAMMA, I think it was the most used wiring standard. SEGA used System16 for a lot of games, but not as many as classic Konami.

I did a software mod (one EPROM change) for Time Pilot '84 so I could play it in my Gyruss or Time Pilot cab. I made it so that the 2P Start button could also be used as the Missile button (I made the 1P Start button double as the Fire button too, but I never use it that way... easier to use the real Fire button along with the 2P Start, as it is not too far of a stretch). Same kind of mod could be done for Scramble, Super Cobra, etc.

Or you could just physically wire the 2P Start button to act as your Bomb button. Don't be a knucklehead and start soldering wires under your control panel.... All you have to do is run a tiny jumper wire at the PCB harness that ties together the two inputs you want to combine. You don't even have to do any soldering.

you ought to check the pinouts on crazykong.com and make sure the voltages are proper from each spot on the harness.

I seem to remember that while those may all hvae 18 pins (or whatever) they all don't use the same voltages at each position.
I could be wrong, just being careful and going off of memory.

I know! I'm going to try to put about 4 boards in the Scramble to give it a little variety.

Awesome...I am in the midst of doing 3 in one (Got a Scramble cab... a Super Cobra (currently in my Contra machine..and that just looks bad) and a Time Pilot board). Have a switch and the cables..just need to get a few 36pin connectors to get the job going! :)

There was a Super Cobra cab on eBay recently that had 4 boards in it with a rotary control on the front of the cab to switch games. Looks like a neat way to set it up.

From the eBay listing:

Hi Folks! This is a Stern Super Cobra arcade game cabinet that houses four different games. The four games are Kicker, Time Pilot, Time Pilot 84 and Gyruss. The games in this cabinet are original and work 100%. There are four original boards in the cabinet that are custom wired and are controlled by a dial on the front of the cabinet. You simply turn the dial to the desired game you want to play. The cabinet is in excellent condition. To get a full description of these games please check them out here:

If you like these games and are limited on space then this machine is for you. You will be playing the actual authentic games not a jamma emulation of the games. This machine would be a very nice addition to your collection.

I guess all that you would really have to switch is the power for the boards. I would like to make it as unobtrusive as possible. Not mod the cab or original harness. I would llike to be able to undo what I do. I'm thinking that I could make a 4 slotted circuit board with an edge connector for the OE harness to plug to and go from there.
