I posted this in the general section but have more questions:

If I wanted to convert my arkanoid to another game I would just need a diffrent control panel and board? and all this would be plug and play? My ark is in a stargate cab and i really would like to make it something else. What all is involved in the swap/convertion? Also does anyone here have what I would need to do it?

Thanks
Roy

If you are sticking with one of the games that share the Taito pinout then you will only need a new control panel and the board. This is assuming that your current Taito harness is fully pinned for all joystick directional controls and buttons.

If you'd like to expand the number of games available then you can use an adaptor that will allow plugging in Jamma boards into the Taito cab. Of course, you will still need a different control panel.

The first thing I would do is check the wiring to ensure all power is wired in and that the controls I need are wired in. If I remember correctly Arkanoid only uses left and right inputs, not up and down. It also only has one button. Check for all four directions as well as two buttons. If you intend to use a two player simultaneous game then you need to check on player two controls as well.

Next I would verify power is good.

Finally, I would acquire or build the new control panel, ensure all of the lines match up (start goes to start, up goes to up, etc.) and then fire up the machine.

Thanks oryk, ill look into it tonight. Would you suggest a game that would be an easy conversion.

A popular game that would be a fairly easy conversion is Bubble Bobble. To be honest I am not sure what other games fit the pinout, and I can't access the link on your other thread in order to look at them.
