I have K7000 that is blurry when it is turned on. After about 20 minutes it comes into focus. You can adjust the focus on the flyback so that it is in focus right after it is turned on, after about 20 minutes, it is blurry. Again you can adjust it back to perfect.
I decided to cap the monitor. No change.
Now when the monitor is turned on, the picture is dark, and eventually brightens up.
Bad Flyback?
Thoughts anyone?

Try rejuvenating the tube.

It's possible you may need a new flyback, especially if yours has tiny cracks around the focus pot...

Thanks,
I'm betting its the Flyback too. Tube looks to be in nice shape.
Next time I place an order with someone I'll pick one up and throw it on. I'll post the result. , I'm curious, are there any youtube vid on how to Rejuv a tube??
Thanks again.....

I'm sure there are vids, I never looked, as I don't have a rejuvenator. HOWEVER, there was a pretty epic thread on here, about 7-9 pages long if I recall, with gobs of info about rejuvenators and best techniques on how to use them.

just out of dumb curiosity, does your flyback have white knobs? those were the ones prone to failure on the K7000. black knob kind are pretty indestructible. anyone will tell you these monitors are among the best due to their relative reliability and ease of repair. but if it's something really complicated, they're a bitch, just like any other. :)

I've also seen this exact symptom being caused by a bad neck socket. I've seen this, probably, 10 times over the years....G-07's, K7000's, and even a 6100 once. I started pulling the neck socket off and cracking them open (at the seam) to see what was going on. Every single one.....corrosion in the spark gap. I'm thinking, from people washing these things and not drying them out good. I tried saving one once.....cleaned it out real good and snapped it back together. Worked good.........for maybe 50-60 hours, then the focus issue came back. Last one was a K7000 in a Paperboy.

Focus

I recently had a K7000 with the same symptom that ended up being a corroded connection between the focus wire and the neck board. I had to replace the neck board because the terminal was so bad I could not solder to it.

Yep it has white knobs.....
The next time I place an order with Bob I'll pick one up and post the outcome on this thread......

oh lord yeah replace it for sure. I dont know why excatly, but the white knob ones puke alot more than the black knob counterparts. It may be that the white ones are older is all, i dont know. Best of luck!

Difference in quality of potentiometer.
A similar comparison would be the white pots versus black pots on WG remote boards.....just boils down to quality = longevity.

Update......
Swapped the flyback last night, it did not fix my issue. Upon closer inspection I did notice a crack in the neck socket...NOW WHAT!?!?!?!

Dumb question I know, but which is the focus wire, and where am I looking for it to be soldered???
