Turned on Galaga Yesterday only to hear a clicking noise coming from it. popped the back and listend to where it was coming from and it sounds like its coming from under the anode suction cup. i can't see any sparks coming out of the flyback although its hard to see it from the front or back. i'm guessing since the screen goes blurry after about a minute or two that the flyback just went. am i supposed to be hearing a snapping/clicking sound from anode suction cup if the flyback went?

There should be no noise from the anode cup area. You should pull the cup and clean the area. It is also possible that the anode is not seated properly in the hole and this is causing the fuzzyness. One other thing to check is the DAG wire coming off of the tube. It needs a solid ground on the neckboard.

Check the wire that goes from the flyback to where it connects to the neckboard, too...

tube

Sounds like your focus wire came off your neck board or you got something in your tube that messed up your focus grid. Leave it on and see if it burns itself off and then it should go back to normal. You might have to rejuve your tube.Last, your flyback is going out.

re-seated the anode and checked the dag wire, both were seated properly to begin with and re-seating changed nothing. blurryness is still there and i can't adjust it out from the flyback, its all the way cranked up. i'm guessing when i capped this 6 months ago i didnt change out the original flyback and now its failing from the stress of the caps? if i have time this weekend i'll try rejuve before i purchase a new flyback.

That sounds like a sensible path to follow.

1) did you check the wire that I mentioned?

2) Does your flyback have white knobs? if so, change it. if not, does it have the screw on top to hold it to the bracket? If so, check around the pots for hairline cracks. if you have them, change it...
