Been playing a lot of Midway Blue Shark the last few days.

Todays scores while I was drinking my morning coffee.

Not a bad start.

Even better

My new personal best.
I'm thinking 30k is possible and is my new goal.

My new personal best.
Beat my previous high score by 300 points (basically one shark).
Slowly creeping up on 30k

Nice work. Makes you wonder if there's a theoretical maximum high score for this game, as there is for Sea Wolf.

The Sea Wolf case is interesting, as there was believed to be a max, which was then beat by few hundred more points, when it was discovered that depending on where in the order of ships the randomizer starts, you could squeeze out an extra few points if the first ship was a speedboat. (The story behind this was somewhere on the web at one point, but I can't find it again now.)

Anyway, wish we all could have a Blue Shark. Pretty much the perfect Bronze Age game.

I think with a lot of these Bronze Age games there is for sure a maximum amount of point you can get.
Both Sea Wolf and Blue Shark are timed games so there is only a set number of target you could technically hit in the allotted time.
There has to be a point cap at some point, even if you made every shot its impossible to get more points because you've hit every target in the allotted time.

Someone was telling me about the random start screens on Sea Wolf when I was at Grinkers a few years ago.
They told me something to the effect that the game cycles though a certain number of start screens and the boats come in set patterns.

I don't think blue shark has patterns like that though.
Perhaps for the octopus (not sure), but the shark and swordfish appear to be random.
Also, the more often you shoot the shark, the more often he seem to come back.

Once I hit 30k on this I'm going to film it.
I think the current world record is in the is like 27k.

By the way, I will be bringing this game along with some other bronze age classics to ZapCon this year. :)
