Hi, I just bought a Stargate Arcade and I am having a video problem. The game will play fine for awhile, anywhere from 5 min to 2 hours. Then the screen will turn blue with red and green corners. You can still see a ghost view of the game through the blue. Video and other diagnostic programs show everything OK. As far as I can tell nothing has been done to this unit, everything appears to be original. Any help would be great.

Thanks, Jeff

monitor

Looks like a blue transistor on your neck board is going out after it heats up.
Replace and if it happens again then i would rejuve the tube and try to heat up the blue gun and see if that helps. Rarely have i seen the problem go away if its the tube though.
Wrap on the tube lightly as their might be some particle around the blue gun shorting it when it heats up and maybe it will dislodge the particle.

Disconnect the video signal connector from the monitor when the blue screen happens to see if it goes away...

BTW - the different-colored corners are usually an indicator that the yoke is too close to the tube...

Much Better!

Woo Hoo! That's all I needed was for someone to say it was OK to smack that sucker with that big rubber electrical mallet I got from the Snap-On dealer. Blue screen, 3 whacks and poof, everything back to normal. Great call, as I had never heard of that particle one before. Also moved the yoke and got rid of those corners.
I guess after 30 years it doesn't truck 400 miles without a few gremlins popping up. I've got some cracked solder connections to fix now, and still looking for that marquee lamp starter. It was there when I bought it, now it's just gone….

Thanks again,
Jeff
