I think that the Blue Elf 2 is a decent product but it really hasn't taken off. Yes it can tend to load slow etc but really... if it has to decode the packed files etc... of course it's going to take a while to load into RAM.

I think that re-wiring your harness is a problem since no one wants to hack up an existing harness just to get a new board working in it.

I realized that I wanted a plug in solution for my own cabs so I ordered a couple of parts from bob and I put together an adaptor so that I could just plug it in to an existing CPS1 machine and get the Blue Elf 2 running right away.

Is it dificult? No, it's still like over an hour of work to cut and solder all of the wires for all of needed connections.

I may build some more if it's something people want.

He showed me how this adapter works on my HS-1 he just sold to me. I can say that it's built well and works great. He simply plugged the the adapter into the Blue Elf 2 and straight into my CPS1 machine and we were able to play right away. Plug and play. No having to hack a perfectly good jamma harnesses.

I'm definitely going to have to grab one of these adapters from you when I eventually get a Blue Elf 2. Count me in! :)

oh and this also works for the Happy Fish 309 which seems to run CPS2 and MVS games fine.

Would it be easier to use the type 3 fingerboard bob also sells and just cut a slot on the end where you don't want the stuff to go straight through avoiding having to solder all the wires that do go straight through? Does this make sense, will it work? I'm looking at this for a redbox 450 in 1, I'm guessing it's the same deal.

What did you actually end up having to do to get this running in a JAMMA cab? When I plug mine in none of the buttons or sticks work. I would appreciate seeing a schematic of what you did.

Did you catch the ground on pin 28 connecting to pin 27? It looks like he did this on both sides.

Yeah you are probably right. I wanted the middle empty so that I could run the wires in between and then mount a connector for the kick on one side. All of the work is in the wiring so yeah, it's a bunch of soldering, cutting and stripping. It takes a while to get through it all... I think my end product is cleaner but more work.

It should work

BlueElf is JAMMA plus but only maps some controls to weird places. Plugging in, it should work. I plug my BlueElf into my test rig and it works fine. My adaptor is just so that I don't have to modify the JAMMA harness for controls.

Yes I bridge 28 and 27 on the side going to the JAMMA harness so that the grounds are intact. Then for the 27 Blue Elf side, I go to the CPS1 kick harness.

I really don't think it really needs an schematic. If you study a JAMMA harness and the diagram of what's needed for a Blue Elf, you can figure it out. I build this so that I could have a male connector for a CPS1 kick harness which I think is the most common application for the board. CPS2 is more complicated to get a connector on there.

Hi.were you able to get your Blue Elf working? I have no controls either. Is it just grounding 27 and 28 together? Thanks Dave

not on hand but I can make them. I owe one to someone right now and have been working on it at night.

Happy Fish questions.

the image isn't the most clear as it saves as lower resolution.

JAMMA Side of the harness for the left two pins are both grounds.

Happy Fish side is looking for.

Ground, button6, button5, button4

Street Fighter Movie Cab

So for the guy that is trying to connect the Happy Fish to the SFMovie cabinet, the reason why it doesn't work for your roundhouse (heavy kick) buttons is because the kick is only for that at JP12. It's only three pins and that's the kick harness for this type of machine.

i just got the blue elf 2009 and i have a cps 2 cab marvel vs capcom and I need a adapter I pmed u about this already

I just received my adapter from Prairied1ll0 and it is fantastic! I highly recommend that if you have a Jamma cab and don't want to modify the harness, that you pick one of these up. Totally worth it.
