Wondering what people think about this boardset? I was thinking about purchasing one but havent really heard anything positive or negative about it.

I also have these questions:

1) How do the games run?
2) Noticed the board plays some vertical games on a horizontal monitor, how do they look?
3) Does it run off a HD or?

thanks in advance!

Jon

OK there is a newer version out called the Pink Elf 450 in 1 or what ever. Apparently the CPU is faster. With a pile of games not so great on previous versions I wonder what the opinion is? I know there is enough good games running OK that if you disabled a pile you might be happy. I did not like the menu that much on the old Blue Elf and the sound was bad on a lot of games and there was frame rate issues. It seemed ok for SFII games, Marvel Vs Capcom, and Ghoul's N GHosts, some of the Neo Geo stuff, and shooters.

Its a cheap all in 1 Jamma setup ideal for fighter style cabs. Probably better to spend a bit more on a Mame setup with a selective Hyper Spin game list or an XXXX in 1 Mame setup.

I really want a Pink Elf review.

I checked the game list on the pink elf. Im not sure who puts these games together, but the lists make no sense. Just a bunch of random shit thrown together. Vertical games mixed with horizontal. I even noticed Forgotten Worlds and Gondomania :( retarded.... Not even playable.

spend the money for the gamebox 450in1, the blue elf runs a lot of the games but theres a couple that do not work at all, and a couple (cps3) that run 1/2 speed. Also note theres a crap load of boot legs and copies and you cant turn off individual games.

The games run off a memory card, not a hard drive.
They can fail, mine just resets constantly now.
The vertical games run like they do on mame on the horizontal screen, as tall as the screen but the width is cut on both sides

so this runs better? I like the list of games a little less, but if they run better its definitely something to consider. is this an SD card or HD?

thanks

couldnt tell you as I dont own one but there are many threads on it, I hear they run almost every game they offer unlike the blue elf, and it has its own power supply in there, so there will be another plug needed to plug in. I believes its pretty much a motherboard in there as opposed to the blue elf sd card..

heres the inside:

Just read that thread. Sounds like its very unreliable :(
That also makes me worry about it long term.

yeah it seems they show up dead more than die while being used LOL, power supply can be replaced which seems like the usual problem. I do know its better than the blue elf when working! I have had the 108 and the 309 and would not repurchase

Assuming that most people that buy the Blue Elf cart will be private home owners trying to make a large MAME style cab with available materials, it's important to keep in mind that:

1. the BLUE ELF 309-1 does NOT work on a RGB to TV converter. I was pretty dissapointed finding this out.

2. System 16 games like Altered Beast, Golden Axe, Shinobi, etc are all broken and can not be played.

3. Many newer titles lag, not so bad that you can't play them, but definitely slow enough that you'll be like "uhm, this sucks."

4. Not sure what seems to be wrong with my BLUE ELF cart, but about 1/4 of the games will NOT even display at all. WTF??? I'm using a rebuilt K7000 yet 25% of the games when selected will not sync on screen? The screen gets all fucked up? To make it worse, it's a lot of the good titles like all the Metal Slugs. I'd assume it's got something to do with the sync wire to the monitor, but then why do all the other games work fine? It's bullshit.

Do yourself a favor and just pass on the BLUE ELF. I spent alot of time to make a multi cab for fighting games, Shmups, and brawlers, but am so dissapointed with the shitty board that I'm going to sell it very soon. I will be making a youtube video very soon showing the good and the bad of the board so everyone can see what I'm talking about.

gozer my cabinet was running a k700 and it synced on all the games, not sure but its either your wiring or your board?

Brand new Jamma harness. Only thing I can think of is to remove the sync wire or place it in a different slot? Maybe H to V? or Vice Versa. If the board is shot, then I'm fuct, as I bought it from Nick a few months ago, way to long for exchange.

I am looking for a reliable easy to use menu multi-board with fighting games for my nephew. I want something that's easy to power on and off. I tried the Make thing but my nephews would turn off the Machine and mess up the os. This is why I want a multi-board instead of mame.

I also don't like the insert credit and hold start button to return to the menu on the blue elf. There's got to be a better option.

I like it, but that's only because I've got it rigged to home use. I put a credit button on the front of the coin door, so it's pretty easy to go back for me. But if this were on route, someone would have to put in a coin just to get back? Uhm yeah...that sucks.

well going back means the credit is there to select a new game, which isnt to bad if you think about it. The one thing I liked about that is most of the multis are hold start for 3 seconds, but that doesnt work in marvel vs capcom when your trying to select your assist character!!

I tried it before and it's terrible IMO. I ended up selling mine after about a week of testing it out. MVS games seem to play okay. CPS1 has issues. As Gozer said, Sega16 is bad as well. CPS2 plays ok, but noticeable slowdown. A lot of clone bootleg versions of fighters which accounts for the "309" games. Everything else is hit or miss. Some games don't work at all.

You're definitely better off either running Hyperspin MAME or one of the more heavy-duty multigame boards like the red box or higher. I chose Hyperspin MAME as I like the frontend and the ability to customize your game list as you see fit.
