Great-looking cabinet!

I want to see more pictures and more details about the television inside, though. If I were to spend big $$ on a Computer Space, it'd have to have the same TV in it that people were looking at when they were playing it in the 70s - not just the correct model, or some other B&W job.

How could you possibly know it was the exact TV it came with?

As I recall there are only two other TVs known to work with this came, it requires a 15 inch B/W TV which apparently is not a common vintage size. I think one of them looks similar to the original and the other looks totally different. The TV is getting harder and harder to find for this game.

I think you could get to a high level of certainty. Burn-in, model & vintage, signs that it had been or not been removed, history via the current owner, etc...

...and the above would help identify it, too.

In any case, Computer Space URs without the original sets are, IMHO, worth less (note the space) :D. A premium-priced game should get premium scrutiny when it comes to how original it is.

You could always call Captain Chris about this particular game, I am sure he has the details.

The game is definitely worth less without the monitor but how much is hard to say. Those TVs are getting harder to find.

computer space

I will look at mine to see what monitor is in my yellow cabinet.
Got it decades ago and was going to repaint it like the blue-flaked one. Mine had spilled paint on it,etc... wrong with it and repainting has to be done, but still it sits waiting.

I wish I had the budget for it at the moment. We're not in a terrible part of the country re: finding Computer Space machines, but they still seem to be hard to come by in certain colors...

I don't think blue is a rare color is it? Yellow is from what I have heard, and there was only one white. This seems to have a later serial number too.

Just sold for $1500. Add on 18% premium and nearly 10% sales tax it was around $1900 total (if it really sold).

Anyone think that was a decent deal? Doesn't sound too bad.

I think I read that it was non-working. Pretty good price - but how hard are they to get going if something's wrong with the boards?

This is the TV that should be in the game:

The original TV is a GE Adventurer II - General Electric Model Number SF3101BK 15 SF Chassis.

Supposedly the the Panasonic WV-5410 will work but I have only found it in a 13 inch version and this game uses a 15 inch monitor.

Hi all, I'm glad my website has been of some use in this chat, feel free to have a look at anything else you might think is worth checking when it comes to Computer Space

www.computerspacefan.com

And to answer the question of whether $1500 is a good price, you can see from my listing of still-surviving units how wide the prices range. I think $1500 for a working unit is pretty good.
Blue is not very rare though, yellow is the rare color.

Anything else I can assist with let me know. I even know a pinball repair shop that services Computer Spaces and can hook you up with the correct TV (if he has any in stock). These are old TVs with vaccuum tubes, definitely vintage from that time period.
