I have been in the market for a Blitz/Showtime two player cabinet and recently found one locally. However, the owner reports that it's dead. I haven't driven to look at it yet, but I assume the monitor has died. I know these medium resolution monitors are getting harder to find. Is it that parts are hard to find or complete used monitors are hard to find? I don't mind sending the chassis off to Chad or Buffet if parts are available. Granted, it may not be monitor related, but I wanted to find out my options before going to look at it.

I assume it's a conversion cabinet...I doubt Blitz/Showtime came in a two-player? You sure you don't want a 4-player?

If it's dead I wouldn't pay more than $200 for a dedicated one, and a lot less for a conversion.

The 4 player is just too wide for my liking and won't fit where I plan to put it (running out of space). I was unaware they didn't make a 2 player Blitz/Showtime.

Most are kits. The dedicated sport station is rare.

Most of the kits are in 4 player cabs. But someone could have dropped it in an early blitz cab which came as 2 or 4 player. The kit could be in nba jam or mk cabs.

It could have medium or standard Rez in there. Could be using 49 way or 8 way.

As for dead, it's a dice roll. Probably ps. But could be board, hdd, or monitor. But if the Vegas board is working, that alone is worth way more than $200.

Go see it and see what it's doing. If you can, Remove the edge connector off the board and see if the traces are burnt. Take note of the monitor. Dedicated and showtime cabs should have k7500. Not 100% sure what the blitz and blitz 99 have. Maybe u5000. Whatever is wrong with it, it should be fixable.

Those monitors really suck in them. Understand that you will need to service it because almost all of the blitz cabs I have worked have chassis issues. The tubes are usually ok, but the u5000 is a total pos.

Thank you very much, this was extremely helpful.

Was it cheap/inferior parts that caused the problem or the design of the chassis itself? I like Blitz and Showtime a lot (one of my favorites), but if this is going to be one of those continual problems, I might just do without.

They guy got an offer for $600 on it. We were worlds apart on the price, so I moved on. Even working, I don't think I would have gone $600. I guess someone wants that cabinet pretty bad.

Thanks everyone for the information and the advice.

you made right decision. $600 for non-working of that game makes no sense.

Yeah, that's crazy for non working. Buy a Seattle board, upgrade it to blitz 2000 and buy nba jam te board and a 2 in 1 switcher and your better off shoving them in your preferred cabinet.
