Hi,
My Carnevil machine has graphic issues.Seems like one colour is missing or sth.I have read, that the Blitz Pcb is the same as the Carnevil PCB.I bought a blitz 99 pcb on ebay.I tested it but the harddrive is not starting and i can see nothing on the screen and there is no sound.I also tried to change the boot chip and the security chip but it still won´t start.are there any differences of the PCB´s?Maybe i bought a defective board?Should i buy another pcb?
I would be very happy if someone can help me.

It´s a midway Seattle board but i don´t know if there are any differences.

i tested a good 99 board and drive on a carnevil and it booted up and worked but of course couldnt play..

check your voltages to make sure you dont have a power supply issue...
also make sure the key isnt missing on the connector.. if it is missing make sure you dont have it plugged on backwards

i have fixed several using a blitz board
make sure you change all the socket chips
boot,sec,sound
also the sub board that attachs to it
if it still doesn't work,double check to see if the blitz board does work as blitz

Thank you very much for your answers!
I tested two power supplies and with both of them and with my carnevil PCB it works but with the same graphic issue.
The Blitz board is not starting with the blitz chips and the blitz hdd and not with the carnevil chips and carnevil pcb.I also tried to change the CPU but still the same issues.So I think the blitz pcb is defective.

Are you shure that a blitz is working in carnevil given that the blitz is working 100% ?

the Seattle boards had dipswitches for different CPU speeds. not sure if that pertains to this problem at all, but considering they run what, identical video and CPU boards, I can't understand why you'd have problems with Blitz booting up. I haven't taken a gander at the Carnevil boardset in awhile (I had no knowledge of the board back then) but I think the only hookup difference is that the guns plug into the gun I/O ports.

I was considering selling my Blitz boardsets, but seeing as how we got a Carnevil and it makes huge bank, I suppose having backup hardware laying around wouldn't be a bad idea, especially since Blitz 99/2000 command pocket change for price. sad.

I think, that I simply bought a defective blitz pcb.I bought it as untested but complete chipset.that was a 50/50 chance that the pcb is working.I am trying to change the graphic chip.maybe the chip on the blitz board is working.The chip is soldered in but I will try change it although.

i just fixed my doa carn evil with blitz pcb... make sure you switch all the socketed chips and have them installed correctly

lack of sleep........................ I'm stupid. Seattle's all one board, it's Vegas that has the different board configurations :)

Seattle does still have variable CPU speeds though. so yeah, looks like your Blitz board is probably bad. :/

do any of the lights light up on it? hard drive spin up?

Yes, a red light in the middle of the board is blinking and the hdd spins up for a short time and then it turns off.on my carnevil board, there is a green led blinking and the red one is off.
I am going to buy a new working blitz board.I tried to take out the graphic chip and one connector pin broke off on the graphic chip on my blitz pcb.Its very annoying but I think the only way to make my carnevil work is to buy another blitz pcb.

Yesterday my Blitz PCB that i bought on ebay arrived.I changed the boot,sec and sound chip.I started up the machine, but the game did not start.then i changed the ribbon cable and the game started up.after some minutes the game hang up and i had to restart the machine.again the game did not start.then i tried again, it started up but hang up after some minutes.When i try to start up the machine now nothing happens.it does not even work for some minutes.2 leds that should blink are on all the time.
I really have no idea what i can do.Maybe there is something wrong with the cpu?
I would be really happy if anybody can help me with this problem.

The dipswitches on the blitz board are in different positions as the dipswitches on the carnevil board.maybe it was a different cpu, too.Maybe the cpu was too slow for carnevil and something is locked up now.
Is there a way to reset the PCB with a bridge or something?

the boards are not different cpu the boards are the same. maybe bad board? check voltage when boots then when it freezes i would check voltages again

you are getting there.. id dips dont help you might want to try a new carnevil hard drive..

mine had freezing problems that were fixed when i replaced the drive..

they are cheap on fleabay and topless z here used to sell flash drive kits too..

Thank you very much for your answers!
I have set the dips but still the same problem.the game is not starting.not even for some minutes.when the game started a led next to the hdd was blinking but now it is off all the time.Maybe the hdd is really defective.i am going to start the machine with my old carnevil board and the hdd again tomorrow.with my carnevil pcb i only had graphic issues.So when there is the same issue and it does not start at all then it might be the harddrive.

The hdd is working.i tried my old carnevil board and it is working but with the graphic issues like before.First my new board worked great but now there are some leds permanently on that should be blinking.I think something on the board is locked up now.but i dont know how to unlock.here is a description of the leds from a carnevil manual:

LED 1 (Is off all the time) "harddisk activity" : off =Disk drive not in use
on =Locked up
blinking =normal operation
Hard disk drive led 1 only active in short bursts during game.may appear continous during startup.if this led is always on, a fault may have caused the drive to lock up.

LED 2 (Is on all the time) "Harddisk interrupt" : Off =Normal operation
on =Fault condition
blinking =Waiting for disk drive
LED 2 monitors hard disk drive interrupt requests.may appear irregular.should not be on continously.

LED 3 (Is on all the time) "Video interrupt" : off =Fault condition
on =Locked up
blinking =Normal operation
LED 3 monitors Video circuit interrupt requests.interval is very regular.should not be on continiously.

LED 4 (Is on all the time) "Processor status" : off =Resume usual task
on =suspend task
blinking =normal operation.
LED 4 suspensions occur in short bursts during startup.may appear very irregular during cicuit reset.

I would be so happy if anybody can help me to find out what is the problem with this board.The board can´t be defective again.it worked until it freezes and i conected it exactly as my old board.

most likely the board is bad. i have four seattle boards that just lock up and the leds stay on solid. i havent found a fix yet.

Ok.Maybe i need another board but i dont understand what has caused this issue.It worked perfectly and suddenly nothing was working.I tried to change the cpu but that did not help either.I tried diferrent power supplies, changed the chips, tried to set the jumpers to reset the board and set the dipswitches.when I push the reset button on the board nothing is happens, too.But I don´t think that an electrical component is destroyed.There have to be an easy way to fix this problem.
Does anyone have an idea what else I can try?
