I'm new to the forums, but must say it is great to see there is a strong community supporting the upkeep of cabs. I've just recently picked up my first arcade cabinet, a 4-player Blitz 99 setup in decent condition. I've run into a problem with it I could use some advice with.
While all the buttons work fine, I'm getting no resopnse from all 4 joysticks. Upon some investigation it looks like the I-40 adapter in it used for the 49-ways must of had soda spilled on it or at least some sort of sticky liquid. Tried to clean it off but it is pretty mucked up and I'm restraining to get too rough with cleaning it. Some of the resistors look pretty dark and there is definitely some white and crusty looking corrosion around the chip pins. So, I come here to you all asking for a little advice.
Is there any good way to test the board to verify it is the problem? I've tested for continuity on the wiring around it with a DMM and everything seems fine, but being so new to arcade repair I'm not sure I've covered all of the usual suspects for this kind of problem.
