Hey guys, I have the Blitz 2000 console and recently a the 3amp fuse blew. When I replace it, it blows immediately. Does this mean the power supply is bad or could I possibly have bigger issues? I've had no issues prior to this. Any info would be appreciated. Also if it is the power supply, where could I find one?

Thanks,
Casey

probably something with the monitor chassis is bad
if I was to guess, the ic 3(voltage regulator) is bad but that's just speculation as I don't know what monitor is in it

to test, remove power to monitor, replace fuse and see if game plays "blind"

Ok thanks, I'll try that when I get home tomorrow.

it could be any AC powered part. so consider monitor, power supply, or the marquee light. it could be a dead short where the wires are exposed and touching. it'll be all the violet or violet-yellow wires in there, I would inspect every inch of them.

I suppose if the on/off switch had a short in it that could do it too. all the rust that's present in there, who knows.

the last part would be pulling the transformer assembly. I genuinely don't know what that part is called, but those are starting to go bad and could cause this too.

Yep, it is something to do with the monitor. I unplugged it and replaced the fuse. The machine is working without picture. Here are a couple pictures of the monitor. Any idea what part i should look for? I've had to replace one of my other monitors with a flat panel, but if rather not do that if possible. It doesn't look right.

Thanks again

Could anyone tell me how to locate the fault or short in the monitor chassis? If I need to remove it and take photos I can. My local repair guy has retired so I'm on my on from now on....
If I'm not able to make this repair does anyone have a recommendation on where to purchase a video converter and what the best monitor option is?
Thanks,

I've fixed many Polos. the incredibly tricky part about them is how you pack them if you go to ship. they're extremely fragile and will break into multiple pieces if you don't bubblewrap the crap out of them. years ago I had one that I shipped 3 times, you want a box that's bigger than the chassis itself, and to wrap the large deflection board and then wrap the neckboard separate. completely remove the remote board and harness and wrap that separate too.

chances are you have an issue in the power supply on the chassis. typically if the voltage regulator goes it should blow the fuse on the chassis, not the transformer block. did you try turning the cab on with the monitor unplugged to see if the fuse in the transformer blows or not?

this may or may not be the thing Ken Layton cites frequently about those Midway transformers being wired wrong. the isolated side that goes to the monitor being the problem if I'm not mistaken.

Yes, with the power to monitor unplugged, the machine comes on and the game is playing in the back ground and the fuse holds.
