I picked up a blitz machine and it starts up and all controls work just fine. problem is every once in a while the game will stop and jump directly back to the diag screen. Im new to owning a arcade machine and cannot locate the problem. where should i start?

also the machine is the 4 player version and i was wondering if and where i could pick up a new harness and just replace it to make sure all wiring is correct. the person before me turned the machine into a no coin needed just free play always (which is fine just want to make sure he didnt cut wires) again i am new here just wondering why the game might do this every once in a while and sometime pretty frequent!

hard drive's going bad I'm afraid. it's a common problem.

happens on my Blitz '99, I've been putting off replacing that hard drive for awhile now lol.

you can check it in Test Mode, under Diagnostics -> Disk Test if I recall. do the File Integrity Check first, then there's some other ones where it tests read/write access.

show me their free play method. did they add like a button to the coin door? that makes no sense, considering the game has a Free Play setting in the Test Mode.

there's other things to check, how handy are you with a digital multimeter?

1. If it is a HD could i copy this HD to another and reinstall another one?

2. to add coins i just press one of the four start buttons! where are the dip switches located at? also there are a couple of plugs on the harness that are no plugged into anything. does everything HAVE to be plugged in or could this be just universal and this machine doesnt use some of them?

3. yes kinda good with a multimeter. what could i check?

Blitz 2000 Gold stopped working

I purchased a working blitz 2000 gold board off of ebay that was converted to a flash drive. I installed it into a blitz 99 cabinet and added a brand new wiring harness. It worked for about 2 weeks and then it just quit working. When I power it up the lights all light up in sequence, the HD light flashes once and then the lights all shut off and it does the same thing over and over. I can't get it to the test screen. I have tried it on my test bench setup and another cabinet and the same result. Does anyone have an idea what the problem is? Do the flash drives go bad like the hard drives do? Any help would rule.

Thanks!
