Anyone been here yet? This place sort of replaced Miss T's Barcade.

I haven't been there yet, but from what I've seen on line there are 12 classic games in the arcade:

1) Spy Hunter cockpit
2) Asteroids
3) Gauntlet
4) Ms Pac
5) Robotron
6) Galaga
7) Rampage
8) TZ Pin
9) Playboy Pin
10) Donkey Kong
11) Gun Fight (when was the last time you saw this game on location!???)
12) Centipede

Not bad.

Location is:

369 N Western Ave
Los Angeles, CA 90004

I went to check this place out tonight. I only live 20 minutes away.

Very cool place. It's basically a classic arcade with a bar.

Other games:

Paperboy (looked minty)
Joust
Track and Field
Defender (very nice)

So not a bad selection...16-17 games. Most of the video games were in decent shape and working.

The Joust was not working. The pins were not working properly. A lot of pin bulbs were out too.

The DK monitor needed a cap kit. Some of the screens and bezels on some games needed to be to be cleaned from the inside. But overall these games were not in that bad of shape and there's room for more...

I mostly played the Robotron. It reset during a million point game I had, but I beat the high score a few times, so that was pretty cool. I think I ended up with completed game in the 600k+ range which is not that good (I've scored over 1.5 million on my own machine, which is not that great), but it still was the all time best on this machine (since the scores were last reset). I was a good 15+ years older than most of the people in there, and before I played I watched a few of them try it, and score 2,000-5,000 points and last less than a minute. Then I started playing and got a million points before it reset...pretty funny...

Overall, thumbs way up on this place...check it out...

Thanks for listing all the games. I've added the place over at aurcade.com :) Got a couple questions. Was the Playboy pin the older one from 1977, or the newer one from 2002? Also, did you happen to notice on the Robotron, if you were shooting diagonally at an enforcer (the little blue fire-hydrant looking things the spheroids produce). If you do that in the right places, sometimes the game will do a rug pattern reset. I had it happen to me recently for the first time.

It's the 1977 Playboy pin.

I didn't think about the cause of the reset but you might be right. It reset once and then another time the monitor started to roll, making the game briefly unplayable.

I used to go there when I lived downtown. Most of the machines were in pretty bad shape except the Robotron. Unfortunately, sounds like not much has changed. :( Good to know it's still around, though.

Maybe you are thinking of Miss Kitty's Barcade? Similar concept, maybe similar or same location. I never went there but always meant to. This is new ownership. The games this place has are pretty decent, they just need regular repair. Most were working, some were in excellent shape. The Defender, Gauntlet and Gunfight were minty looking.

The owner said he has two tech guys who come to fix the games. Clearly they are not coming every day. I guess if someone is running a place like this they probably need to learn to fix the games themselves, unless the place is making a decent amount of money and can afford $75 an hour or whatever these guys are charging.

This area desperately needs a decent classic arcade, and this needs to stay around. Toss in the booze, rock and roll, and the hot 22 year old chicks hanging out there, you have the potential for a really cool scene.

What's the surrounding area like? Easy to park and walk? Other stuff to do nearby?

It was Miss T's Barcade. Same address. Maybe a door or two over. They have a Ms. Pacman cocktail over there, right? The machines looked nice but needed servicing pretty bad. Ate quaters, a button or two won't work, busted joysticks, etc.

The area is OK. Park on the street or around the corner is usually good to park. I'll head up and check it out again.

Hmmm...I guess I'll go take a look. At the very least I could try to get my name all over T&F.

The place opens at 4 pm, so if you are concerned, go early.

It's urban, but not a bad area, at least from my perspective. I live in the city near some areas which are far worse.

There is a residental neighborhood nearby with street parking. It's the street just past the bar. Parking on Western can be an issue...there isn't much in this particular area. The place is located next to a strip mall with a large laundromat. It's kind of hard to find the bar the first time. There is also a very weird looking KFC across the street.

Is there anything else to do around there? Hmm...it's Koreatown so there is Korean BBQ and I am sure plenty of other decent food. It's not all that far from Griffith Observatory and Hollywood. I think you can order pizza to be delivered to the bar. Someone did that while I was there.

I didn't notice any broken controllers or buttons. Even the grommets on the Robotron were in nice shape, although the screen could use a good cleaning with the bezel off. The Asteroids ate a quarter but the coin return button worked. It was an owl eye coin door. Yes there is a cocktail Ms. Pac next to the Gun Fight.

Went to this place last night for the first time in about a month. They added a nice working 720 and an Off Road.

Current line up:

1) Spy Hunter cockpit
2) Asteroids
3) Gauntlet
4) Ms Pac cocktail
5) Robotron
6) Galaga
7) Rampage
8) AF Pin
9) Playboy Pin
10) Donkey Kong
11) Gun Fight
12) Centipede
13) Punch Out
14) 720
15) Off Road

Joust was dead and pins were in bad shape. DK needs a cap kit badly. Some of the screens are dirty. Rampage always seems to be busy.

I've talked to him about the dk before (guy behind the bar is owner/operator). He has a WG4600 in there and apparently DK doesn't like that monitor, said his repair guy told him there wasn't a really good way to get that to work %100 with a Nintendo cab. Sound accurate?

Same owner, same games. Moved one door down, got his full liquor license- and stopped serving food and beer only. At least, that's the story I heard hehe

I think the pin is a TZ not AF now that I think about it.

Yeah it's pretty much the same lineup as the other place that was next door, but on the other hand, most of these are solid A list classic video games.

Yeah, map showed TZ and Playboy at Miss T's as well, so that would make sense.
