My wg k4000 series has been recapped and I completely redid all the solder. It was working pretty good. Last night I moved it to the basement. When I plugged it back in the screen worked but it flashes. When I turn the sharpness down the flashing goes away but of course it's too blury to play. The sharper I turn it the faster the blinking. It does this with both the game and with my monitor pattern generator. Am I right thinking it is time for a new flyback?

Never heard of a K4000.

If this happened after you moved it, first check that the neckboard is on good, then make sure the connectors on the monitor and PCB are on good, then look the chassis over for cold solder joints...

Okay ya got me. It's a 19k4961. I guess I should have said something along the lines of it's a k49xx or something. Anyway, it no workie. I resoldered all the components after the problem happened so im sure there are no cold joints. Neck board has been on and off several times and i'm sure it's on good (already made that mistake before)

Test Q201 and Q202 along with all the other related components (R201, R201 etc..)
Look for broken traces and all that good stuff in the 200 section as well.

Thanks gregatron.
here's what I got.
Q201& q202 check okay
R202 is orange orange brown silver and tests 329. Should be 331? Id say that is close enough.
R201 is brown black red and gold. Should be 102 right? It reads 1007. No decimal, 1007. Am I doing that wrong or is that resistor bad?

BTW - have you checked your tube with a rejuvenator? Sometimes flashes are caused by internal issues...

Thanks modessitt. I thought I must have figured that value wrong.
I checked the monitor with my rejuv before I moved it but not after. It was fine then. I'll try again tommorow night and maybe post some video of what it is doing.

Okay b+ is at 129 so that's good. I ran my rejuv on it and it still tests okay. I took some video and when it finishes uploading I will post it. I'm thinking about putting another cap in it. Maybe I got a hold of a bad cap in the last one.

Here's the video. It's a bit deceptive as there are no diagonal lines in it. I start out with sharp focus on the flyback, then slowly turn it down. It becomes more aaparent what is going on as I lessen the sharpness. After a bit the flashing goes away, but by then the picture is way out of focus. Then I turn the focus back up and the flashing starts again.

All right, I swapped the neck board and flyback from the 46xx to the 49xx and the problem went away, so it is either the flyback or something in the neckboard.
