BLASPHEMY!! A Punch-Out cab turned into a SF2!

Sadly, this is about the 5th time I have seen this (not this exact one) conversion.

All is not lost. A Punch Out turned to anything else can be a Punch Out again...

i think SFII is the conversion for PO or PC-10 that i've seen most often. i suspect Ops did it because spectators liked to watch the fighting on the upper monitor.

I dont understand what the top monitor does for SF?
Lets the crowd watch the match more easily, like mc300baud said. SFII was such a social game, when it was hot a huge crowd could form around it, this would encourage that kind of play.

I'd rather see a Punch-Out unmolested, but I can understand why an op would do that back in the early 90s.

I tried contacting the seller to save it, but haven't heard anything back yet. If I end up with it, it will become a Super PO!

BTW, nice job on that Punch-Out Frizz! Looks awesome!!

Sitdown Star Trek converted into a 1943 still takes the cake for me (OG San Jose Super Auction goers know which one I am talking about).

...and yeah. I remember a few arcades putting an extra monitor on top of the Street Fighter II machine, back when it was the hottest thing since sliced bread. It was needed, because everyone wanted to watch the match and the only way to see the action was to crowd the machine and crush the people playing. :p

The ad says the monitor needs adjusting, that it's missing a color. I have a feeling the top monitor is an original one (with the colors inverted), and the bottom one's been replaced, or at least isn't inverted.

Ok, I just heard back from the seller and worked a deal. I am headed to pick it up and will report back to you guys. Until then...

Yup, the pictures show the top monitor is definately inverted.

The bottom monitor could still be the original one, though... a lot of them had little adaptor boards on the flyback cage so you could invert /non invert the video. Simple as moving a plug!

Well, I ended up getting it for $80...actually has both original monitors and both have very little burn. The cab is in decent condition...now on to find PO parts to convert it back.
