Blacklights wash out monitors, no like. What do you think?

I thought it would be cool to get a couple of 48" fluorescent black light bulbs for the ugly light fixture in my arcade. I don't like it. It's a cool effect but it washes out all the monitors that are near by. Makes them overbright and washes out the colors. How do you guys deal with that? Is that normal? Are there better ambient options for 48" bulbs?

In the past

I have used them in the past, at my old house, but I only had them aimed at a couple of walls that had arcade game stuff on them...the light would bounce off the walls and create a cool effect, but they were never too close to any of my machines..

True

I use them but i use the stealth method and iluminate the walls. i tuck them behind the arcades or on top. it is easier on the eyes.

Gotta have the games on too. If you don't, you will see how bad the burned monitors look:)

I am not totally sold on the 48" BL's either, I may have to do something like the Invader.

At CEC, our Kid Check lights are strictly just the ultraviolet. Not a blacklight. It makes everything white glow and anything thats not white doesnt get washed out or glared. Not sure the actual name for these types of bulbs, but I can find out if youre interested.
