Anyone think of doing blacklight rugs instead of full on wall to wall carpeting? I would think it would be easy enough to buy a 12 x 9 remnant and have the edges finished for you. Since the carpet in my arcade is less than 3 years old and was just professionally steam cleaned I can't see ripping it up and starting over (oddly, neither can the Mrs.). Best part is there is no installation to worry about and you can put them in the middle of the room, where the only open floor space is visible anyway. Anyone try this?

What color is the carpet that you have at the moment? If it is dark/black, I could see throwing down some blacklight area carpet. If your existing carpet is lighter colored, you might have some clashing issues..

I was thinking about doing something similar if I go the carpet tile approach - no need to get the high end blacklight tiles for the spots under the games, so I was thinking of a combination of plain black tiles and blacklight tiles. Yours is an interesting idea if I decide not to go the tile route.

I bought a rug not blacklight 4 years ago 17x15 and had an edge sown on for 100.00. Still looks great today and I didn't have to put nails in the hardwoord floor, plus I added a cushion under it for added comfort.

How could you clash with beige or light grey? I would think the dark/blacklight rug over a light/neutral color would be the better option.

Hey, I think we have found yet another female KLOV member. :D

Clashing issues...

Okay, Phet... new rule... you don't get the show that jukebox WITHOUT it being turned on... ever again. That thing is too sweet to be tucked away and dim like that... no one puts Baby in the corner...

As far as the rug, I'm pretty decent with sewing, so if I were you, I'd just order a large bit of the carpet... trim it to shape, then sew a bit of a border and backing onto it. Just my 2 cents, but if they're already thinking about making rugs... then could be worth the time to just wait and let them do it.
