Black Widow Side Art Project

I found the scanned pieces of Black Widow while looking recently

Here's what they look like pieced together

Click

The green areas were not scanned

There are bits that don't line up, and are incorrect colors, but they get fixed

This is 25% of the size I have

Any comments?

Are you going to work on vectorizing this? Is it known if Scott has the Gravitar or BW sideart films?

What I wonder is - if the films were on hand, couldn't they be used to put some clean art together for solvent inkjet? That might be good enough for something relatively low demand like this.

I am looking for art for my multi vector cab

Black Widow
Gravitar
Space Duel

will all fit

Could also look at doing a multi vector sideart too, now that Lunar Lander asteroids and battlezone are done

I hate to poop on anyone's multi-parade, but Black Widow art would look about 100x better than some multi creation sideart on a Gravitar/BW style cabinet, which many of us would use for the multi vector project. Added benefit of it being a reproduction or restoration of sorts, with it being original style art. Also, it doesn't have "Black Widow" on it, so it works for generic arcade art too.

Oh yeah, Archer used to print art for folks, but I haven't heard of him doing that in years. If only ThisOldGame or someone could make a deal with him for his art files, if it isn't feasible to build the art from the original films.

I agree... I would like to use Space duel or Black widow side
art on my multivector. Probably space duel since I have a black widow.

Has anyone vectorized space duel or scanned it at least?
I might be up for vectorizing it.

Wasnt there ia guy a few months back selling space duel side
art on ebay? It caused a thread about bad color matches and
he was in the process of correcting them.

I knew we have discussed this before..

This guy has vectorized the space duel side art and is selling
inkjet reproductions on ebay. Obviously a silkscreen one would be nice
but I'm not taking that on:)

Looks like he cleaned up the colors and people were happy with
it by the end of the thread.

He sells on ebay here...

Looks like Darin might be doing Space Duel at some point as well.

Excellent

I will do the BW art if need be, just to put it in perspective, LL took years.

I just want the end result, (IE Artwork) so I will post the scans pieced together here, If anyone wants to have a go, go for it

HERE: Some of the stripes are straightened (76MB)
http://www.dsbelec.iinet.net.au/Black_Widow_Stitch_05-Lines.tif

Here is the reference file (IE: some components need to be stretched or copied to the above file) (87MB)
http://www.dsbelec.iinet.net.au/Black_Widow_Stitch_04.tif

Ask me questions if needed, I have the orig scans too if needed

Awesome, I'm just thinking either Scott may have the original films or Archer has already done it.

I have a ROUGH BW cabinet that I have planned on using as a template for building a new Gravitar/BW cabinet, and possibly for the multi project. If good Gravitar or BW art was reproduced at a decent price, I'd be on board for it.

before this turns into another Assault.
Im pretty sure BW art is likley to be done from the films by PhoenixARcade
though not sure where on the prioty list it is as there are alot of other projects in line as well
but really wouldnt waste to much time into vectoring any Atari art without really checking in first. Lunar Lander comes to mind, but Space Duel is another that was about 75%vectored, and ready for print and needed some scans to finish
not sure theres enough demand to screened SD or gravitar sides from the films but you never know.

I could be bashed for this, but..

I understand that for Gravitar you'd ideally have Gravitar sideart and for BW - BW art, but.. With BW cabinets being Gravitar cabinets with BW on top from the factory, and both being generic in the sense of no name on the art, they're a bit more interchangeable than most. I could see using either on a multi-vector cabinet, or I could see building a Gravitar replica cabinet and using BW art if it were available.

I see no way that Space Duel art could be worth making. There are just too many Space Duels and converted cabinets out there I'd think. I'm not saying that bash SD, as it's one of my favorite XY games. I was fortunate to find a nice, original game.

I will cease this one, and wait for BW one day . . . :)

Cheers

That would be great if it will be done by the original films.
