While I am a "fan" of Atari's Black Widow... that isn't what I meant by the subject line...

I am wondering why it is that Atari's Black Widow (and Gravitar by association) cabinets don't appear to have ever had a "fan" in them?

I thought all Atari color vectors had fans?

Probably a stupid question as I "assume" I know the answer... but you all know where that gets me...but...

Would it behoove me to add an intake fan to a Black Widow cabinet? Perhaps one blowing across the 6100?

My Space Duel & Tempest don't have fans, but Star Wars does and it's not currently hooked up. They all have 6100s and no heat problems. The Amplifone on my kitchen table gets *very* hot running Quantum. When I finally get a good tube and put it in the Star Wars, I'm going to reconnect the fan.

In your case, I wouldn't worry about adding a fan if the game is in an air conditioned room.

You could just leave the back door off as long as there is no issue with your son or his friends sticking their hands in the back of the machine. I had all the back doors off my vectors in the gameroom.

I added a fan blowing on the monitor on my Tempest for precaution, but the Space Duel I used to have faired fine without one. If you can put up with the extra fan whirring, why not?

Only color vector I have with a fan is Star Wars. I also leave the back doors off in the summer.
