I picked up a Black Tiger yesterday (locally!). I love the game and am hoping to get this one into better shape. Everything looks good mechanically, it works flawlessly as far as I can tell. Coin mechs all work, although I did have to fiddle with one of them. It had a penny jammed in there. Monitor has a hint of burn in, but it's barely noticeable. Can anyone tell what this cabinet was previously?

The CP and CPO are a bit rough. Somebody made some kind of crappy plexiglass overlay...
You can see a bit of the t-molding in the 3rd picture, looks like its textured.

The coin mechs both work well, but I need new bulbs for them. I checked the local electric supply store, but they didn't have any and could not order them. Anyone know where I can find a couple? There are pics of the bulbs in question below. The writing on the bulb says GI755. (Check out that coin counter!)

pretty sure that's a wizard of wor cab. You can get those bulbs through many sources on line such as Bob Roberts but you can most likely find them at your local auto parts store or possibly wal mart in the auto parts section.

I don't know a whole lot about the electrical side of things yet, but here are the internals. The PCB appears to be an original capcom board, and not a bootleg so that's good.

Here's all the stuff I didn't want to see, the damaged bits. Structurally the cabinet seems good, but there are a lot of scuffs and holes and spray paint overspray (wtf) to be repaired.

To end today's pictures on a high note, here is the marquee. It looks pretty much mint, just has some sticker adhesive that needs to be cleaned off.

And that's it until I start getting some repairs made! Any tips or suggestions or just conversation would be appreciated. :D

It sure looks like a Wizard of wor cabinet to me..

I think you guys are right about Wizard of Wor. I'll throw some goof off on in a bit and make sure. Is WoW a valued cabinet? Should I try to restore this one and put BT in another cab?

I want one.. so yes! :)

Wizard of wor is a great 2-player/shooter/maze game. It's kind of a mix between space and medieval. http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=10459
Side art for this game is available. So no need to panic about that. You can order here http://www.phoenixarcade.com/art.htm

I like Black Tiger too. But I think you should stick it into a generic cab like you said.

I'll try to be careful and check out the WoW artwork, but unless it's awesome this cab is staying Black Tiger :p If you're actually interested, PM me and maybe we can work something out.

Edit: Does anyone know if the WoW art is vinyl or stenciled?

It's vinyl. Most likely didn't survive or worth keeping if in bad shape. Like I said reproduction stickers are available at phoenixarcade.com.

Well after being balls deep in this machine all day, I can safely say that whoever frankensteined this cabinet together can kiss the hairiest, sweatiest part of my ass. I've got it mostly dissassembled. I also located a bulb for the marquee, more on this later. I've got a few questions about how to proceed from here:

1) I had one boo boo when I was cleaning some parts on the coin door. When I was cleaning the bit that says ".25" I got a bit too vigorous and now it's just a clear piece of plastic : ) Anyone know where I can locate another? Here's a pic.

2) While we're on the coin door, what is the best way to refinish it? Whoever painted it last didn't do a very good job. Can I just use goof off to strip it to bare metal? What would I repaint it with? Also, what is that 2nd hole above the lock hole for? And where can I get a new lock?

IMG_1852.jpg

3) When I put the new bulb in the marquee, it works but it doesn't light up fully. It only lights up at the ends, and not the middle. Is there a problem with the fixture, or did I not put the bulb in right or something?

IMG_1849.jpg

4) How do I remove the red and blue buttons so I can get the plexi off and clean the cpo? Shouldn't they unscrew?

IMG_1809-1.jpg

5) That weird pin/bolt thing to the right of the lock hole was used by the previous owner to keep the coin door shut. He drilled through the coin door frame to use it : / Where can I get a new coin door frame?

IMG_1851.jpg

6) Part of the kick plate trim is gone, where can I get a new one?

Sorry for the questions overload, I had a big day : D

I located some coin door parts on ebay, so that should take care of most of the questions. That just leaves the kick plate trim and the marquee light. Any ideas there?

Sounds like it needs a new starter/condenser. You can get a 2 pack at walmart for like $2.

They look like this:

get your coin door shot blasted, try to knock out the dints in it if there are any (yours looks pretty sweet) just dont know what that hole is above the lock.perhaps that will take a small midway cocktail start button, usefull for adding credits if you wire it up proper.but,it will have to be the correct size.then undercoat/prime it yourself and use a nice rustoleum satin black spray on it.will come out a treat.
