I have a 1980 Black Knight that was given to me. I went to try it out like usual and it started shutting down on its own and would load the ball into the plunger. I would hit the reset on the MPU and it would start back up. It showed error 9 on the board. Need some help. Maybe someone here can work on the board?

Error #9 lists in the book as "Coin-door closed, Memory protect circuit faulty, or IC19 CMOS RAM Faulty".

First thing I would do is check the batteries. I'd also try doing the quick reset with the coin door open.

If those don't work, then it's likely the 5101 RAM at IC19.

Check this link out too, if you haven't already.

Ya I looked at that website a while back. I have tried it with the coindoor open and closed and nothing different. I have also changed the batteries. Im guessing it is the rom. Where are some good places to get parts. These are my first pinballs and I kinda clueless. I do know the videos good though.

Great Plains electronics has them in stock, as does Bob Roberts and Marco Specialties too, all around $6.00.

All are great parts sources. Though chips are one of those things that you feel ripped off by the shipping charges, as they are so small. Might as well order some new balls or other stuff at the same time.
