Hey everyone, I picked up a Black knight recently, and after cleaning up some battery corrosion and doing a general shop job, I have a solidly working game. A couple of items still are a little off still.
-First, I have no backbox GI. The playfield GI us there, a little low, but it's on. Is there a second circuit for the backbox? I couldn't find anything in the manual.
-Not sure what the correct incline is for the playfield, mine is at about 4 degrees. I question this for two reasons: first, I replaced the springs on the shooter, and now the ball won't make it up into play. I put back in the original shooter rod spring, but kept the new barrel spring for the outside of the shooter, the ball makes it now, but it is weak. Were there special barrel springs? My playfield too steep? Also with the incline, in the upper playfield, when I shoot the ball with the upper left flipper, it circles around into the multiball lock area, it usually jumps right out, as if it is going too fast. Is this normal, is it a shot that needs to be a little lighter?

Thanks for any help you can give me guys.

First you need to find out if it is a System 6 or System 7 power supply. The System 6 PS had the transformer in the head, the System 7 had the transformer in the base cabinet.

The System 6 has a little card to the left of the transformer that has the fuses for the GI lighting, the System 7 has the GI on the power supply board (think Data East Style)

Sorry about the Photos, they are "before" the fix, The System 6 is missing a fuse, and the System 7 had a hack to fix the burned GI.

After looking at it closely, it is system 7 BTW, it is the connector which has burnt up. What confuses me also is that there is no fuse for the GI on the power supply board, just a wire, and it looks very factory. You can also see the right side of the connector is f'd up.

Looks like somebody put in a System 9 style supply. They used multiple fuses downstream on a separate fuse board for games like Space Shuttle.
