Two questions about my Black Knight

1) My speech is a lot fainter then the sound. It has speech, starts kinda strong and then gets real weak. Could this be an amplifier problem?

2) The two magnets work great. However when I use them playing the game, they do not always drop the ball in the proper outlane. Is this common?

1) Probably not.. I think its the same amp? Isn't there a separate pot for speech level (or a balance pot?) that could be going wonky.

2) The magnets are not guaranteed to drop the ball into the return lane, sometimes you end up in the outlane anyway (and get laughed at). There's an adjustment for how long the magnets stay on for. The longer they stay on, the better the chance it will go down the return lane.

cheers

There is an adjustment pot on the sound board, on the top left, this controls the ratio between the sounds and speech. Try tweaking this a bit each way, and it should solve the speech problem. You may also need to replace that pot if it's fading out.

As to the magnets, they'll only drop it into the inside lane if you caught the ball long enough that it stops moving in the middle of the green circle. If the ball is still moving when the magnet shuts off, it could go anywhere. The other possibility is that the playfield isn't level, you DID make sure it's level from left to right, correct?

Might want to replace the caps on the sound board some time if haven't already.

I have a black knight as well and every now and then the magnets will dump into the outlane. I think the alignment and placement of the lane guide rails may have something to do with it.

The adjustment pot seems to be operating fine, it checks ok with a voltmeter as well. I am going to check for proper voltages as well as replace the sound caps.

The ball is still moving when the magnet turns off sometimes. How long should it be set for? I think mine are set for 5 seconds?
